If porsche has changed their pricing policy on GT cars like the recent Gt2 RS I may be out. Only 911 pricing suits a 911. If you get into exotic super car pricing territory there are many options. The value for money at msrp performance wise is what makes porsche GT cars attractive to me.

The base MSRP for a 991.1 Gt3RS in my market was $168k. I can understand a $10-15K increase over that but if much beyond that I will look at other options. Also we are expecting a new VAT in 2018 which will make cars more expensive any way.

Sorry if I sound spoilt to you Australia, Singapore and HK members but frankly at your prices I would never bother to even check this forum or ever buy a porsche or any luxury or sports car.

It's nuts. Standing behind the car when it's on throttle accelerating may be genuinely painful. I've heard everything on a variety of tracks and I'd place it behind only Top Fuel and older F1 cars.

Thats all right - slap on a couple of turbos, increase performance significantly, reduce the wasted noise and keep it inside the regs Job done.

I agree. My 488 was 288k. I know there are some here that would rather have a GT2RS. I wouldn't. And I own a '16 GT3RS.

In listening to the the GT3 991.2 intros with AP talking, I remember him saying they gained 10-15 horsepower in the valve train, had less friction in the cylinder bores, were able to reduce oil pressure, improved the ram air effect, and made all sorts of efficiency improvements. It sounded like about 25 horsepower to me, but the power rating of the car stay the same. Hum.... Sounds like they went and detuned it a bit and will save that 25 horsepower for the RS or a future upgrade in the regular GT3. This has been a strategy of Porsche for decades.

The power gained from ram-air is irrelevant, as it only happens at very high road speeds and the engines are rated on the bench (0 mph). The power from the valvetrain and cylinder bores is an interesting point though...

All sounds logical. Or maybe the new gt3 is already making 525 hp, and they famously underrated it?

No way it's under rated by that much. De-tuned maybe but it isn't putting out 525.

The 3.8 put out 475hp. They didn't bother going to 4.0 for only another 25hp.

I will be disappointed with only another 25 hp with the .2GT3RS. They need to boost it to 535 hp minimum and 10% torque increase to make it relevant imho. 550 hp
would be great.

10% torque increase will require ~10% displacement increase, or 4.4L. With cylinders that large (733cc each), it would be a mean feat not to lose too many revs (needed to continue to make 125 hp per Liter or 550hp)...
