Is the new GT3 a poor man's 911R?

Probably two standard deviations above the mean wealth in a given group, so for example someone can be rich in some circles but poor on RL. Also why rich people from some very poor countries are still rich by US standards, with high gini coefficients their standard deviations are much higher.

bernie is right... 1%-er's SHOULD pay way more taxes... this thread is living proof that they certainly aren't spending their time making the world a better place

Pet peeve of mine...not that some need to pay more tax but we're hardly talking about 1%-ers in most cases... 0.1%-ers is more like it when it comes to $500K+ cars...

I may have to take back what I said about the GTS. Here's a thread on the GTS, bone stock as far as I know: https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...991-1-gt3.html
OP: My 991.2 GT3 will arrive in October and I've never been more excited for a car. I configured it tastefully at $161k, no buckets (it's not comfortable if you use your car everyday) and no PCCB (cost of ownership goes up if you track). The 991.2 GT3 has the newest engine Porsche has to offer, most refined 991, and it will likely be the last N/A production car Porsche to roll off the assembly line. A GT3 is a car that you can buy (if you made the list) and drive for 2-3yrs, then most likely sell it for the same price you paid for. I plan to drive my GT3 3-5 times per week and track 3-5 weekends per year. If you didn't sign up to be on any list 12-18mos ago, expect to pay $25-45k over list.
Oh, I ordered the faster version of the GT3 (PDK). I've been driving a manual since I was 15, very good at heel/toe etc. However, PDK is very refined and quicker. I was very impressed with the PDK on my 991.1 GTS.
The 911 R is in another league, it's now a collector's dream. People who have them barely put miles on them and most will end up in storage/museum. Tracking a $500k collector's dream is out of the question.
So I don't know if you're asking this because you have the means to buy a 911R or you're asking because you don't want to drive a GT3 that's considered inferior to a 911R. My short answer is a a GT3 and 911 R are two different cars for 2 different need. The GT3 is only inferior to the GT3 RS, which has even a shorter list of people who can buy them.

So the logic is... people have nice things so we should raise taxes... repeat until nobody has nice things.

no - my point is that this:
buyers of 1.2 gt3's still feel latent envy over 911r owners and feel compelled to compare - i say get over it and enjoy what you have and stop wasting time bs-ing pointlessly on the boards - instead, do something productive with the rest of your time/energy
EVERYONE here on this board is very fortunate and privileged - stop belly-aching and acting like beverly hills housewives comparing their designer jewelry and envying other's $1000 dollar purses
we should be thankful for our lot in life, feel less envy and paranoia/insecurity over our toys, and maybe even try to do more for those less fortunate

It's ironic that the Hermes 'Birkin Bag' is genuinely the marketing case study behind Porsche's GT strategy.
Read this and tell me that it doesn't sound familiar...
