Yes, the 2017 model 3.4s which have a textured brake track that stops well when wet. The weather is always mixed in Hawaii so I wanted a wheel that would work well if it rained. The Roval 32s have a smooth brake track that might not be great in the wet. I see you are running Lightweight wheels which look fantastic!
LWT isnt much better
i am waiting for s work in disc to try

Thanks for posting the beautiful cycling pictures. I have a serious case of wheel, cycle, travel and weather envy. We are getting snow and the temps are in the 20s for the next 10 days. Before the weather turned I was able to introduce my daughter to the new GT3 today. She loved driving it which I think is pretty cool! In the meantime my garage is brimming with Scarlet and Gray and I can't wait to see the Buckeyes beat USC in the Cotton Bowl

Okay here's a question I need to have answered in keeping with cycling. I just added something to my bucket list that hopefully will be achieved next year. Has anyone here on RL tackled the famous Alpe d'huez? If so, any pointers and how you planned your trip...... Mooty? Thank you in advance.

Alpe D'huez is on my bucket list too. Depending on if you just want to do that climb or do others there are several companies and outfits that do that. Trek, Backroads and some of the other cycling touring companies have week long tours that will do that as part of their riding. As Mooty said there are lots of options. Google and start doing research. I have no first hand experience but hopefully in 2-3 years I am going to go to Europe and do some riding.

I did it at the END of etape du tour in 2011. It truly is a bucket list ride but after already doing Col du Telegraph, and the Galibier it's painful! The options and routes around there are amazing. A great way would be to do it with relatively fresh legs- many do and aim for a good time. The Galibier (really majestic climb) and then the Alpe is a great 3 hour or so jaunt. Either join a group with a shuttle bus or plan the return trip as a loop. Do it for sure!

- Galibier - http://inrng.com/?p=17723
- Col du Glandon - http://inrng.com/2014/11/roads-to-ride-col-du-glandon/
- Col du Croix de Fer
- Col de Sarenne (an alternate way to climb or descend the Alpe)
Logistically, I recommend staying in Bourg d'Oisans which is right at the base of the Alpe. You can fly into Lyon and rent a car to drive there (about 2 hours).
A great company to work with is More than 21 bends - https://www.morethan21bends.com/index.aspx. They can help with everything from just renting a place to stay to supporting a fully guided tour. I rode with them and highly recommend them.
If you are really hard core, there is an annual event called the La Marmotte in July which takes on Glandon, Galibier and Alpe d'Huez in one day -- 174k/5000M -- http://www.marmottegranfondoseries.com/index.php
