At this point it's a lottery as to whether your favorite spot is still open... 55% of retail and restaurants permanently closed. And that's with summer outdoor dining.. by winter that will be much higher. No urban center in the world has been hit harder by Covid than SF.

I am not sure which is the worst as I have not been to SF, but cities everywhere are bad. NY, Philly have tons of closures and neither are permitting indoor dining and there is only so much outdoor space.
Out here in the burbs, my favorite bar is closed for the pandemic (it opened for 10 days and then closed again). I blame myself because I did not go each day. It will likely reopen (I know the owner, he owns the building outright). My favorite restaurant (where I sit at a table at the bar because the bar seating was briefly permitted and then stopped by government order), is booming because they set up a giant tent for outdoor dining to offset the capacity limits and distancing indoors. Other than days with storms (which turns into a cluster), they are killing it. I mean there was a wait for tables yesterday (a Tuesday) and with the tent there are more seats than they ever had indoors.
PS that is a table with four elderly women all with walkers to the right, they were really funny.
Winter is coming, and that is going to be an issue. Portable heaters can get them through Halloween or so around here, but then what? You can’t survive on 25% capacity, or even 50% or 75% capacity. I am doing my part, I will be back tomorrow to have another ribeye (I will get pics for mooty).
Capitalism is being evaporated in front of our eyes. The Bolsheviks are coming. It was clear to me in February, but now it becomes clear to many that this New Normal is about much more than a virus.
Oh come on! Deployant vs. Deployment. I’m a watch snob and I’m voting for deployment.
Man, I wouldn't. That's like saying "Carrera White Metallic" instead of "Carrara White Metallic", "Burmeister" instead of "Burmester", "Panamerica" instead of "Panamera" or any of the other things that separate Porsche enthusiasts from people with the means to afford a Porsche but no real appreciation for the marque. There's a difference between being a snob (be it watch, car, bike, wine, etc.) and being a knowledgeable enthusiast. Not looking for conflict here, but why use the wrong term?

OMG guys, the food and the watch ****...love it...today is my 19th wedding anniversary and the wife is asking for the most bastardized American version of congealed chinese food we can find, our favorite digs around here have remained closed since this all began, afraid a lot of them for good....but hoping they make it through and been giving ridiculous tips to whoever is open....but must say I need to go and show her some of the pics of food on here to get the standards a bit higher round here tonight!
Restaurant sales in San Francisco have dropped by 91% since March, according to credit card companies.
Sales are down 84% year over year, from July 2019 to July 2020.
Over half (51.5%) of SF's restaurants dont have any sales at all.
They are either closed, or closed for good.

I've been meaning to go into the city for some take-out. I've been getting at least as much take-out as last year. I'll have to post a picture of my favorite Gaumenkitzel Schnitzel and Spätzle (Berkeley take-out). (authentic German pretzels with crunchy outsides are nice too)
Friend of mine ended up closing his restaurant in Santa Clara at the end of Aug. He was doing ok with take out only but just felt like he was better off selling his spot and taking some time off to think about what he wanted to do for his next restaurant endeavor.
We’ve been trying to support the few restaurants we regularly went to pre-Covid and so far they all seem to be doing ok too.
in car news, took the McLaren up Hwy 9 and down Page Mill today. First fun drive I’ve had in a while.
