I think the points on the curve plot based on rider, amount or riding, ability to notice the differences.
All that said:
New occasional riders: $2-3K (basic, capable bike with good tire clearance)
Experienced riders: $4-6K (carbon frame bike, good group, carbon wheels)
mooty like: $7-12K (light carbon frame, top group, carbon wheels; aesthetics, design)
Even within that subset, there are different ride feel characteristics. I rode a bunch of gravel bikes that were highly regarded but felt really lazy and inefficent to me. With that you got more comfort but for my riding (20-60mi mixed fire roads) I prefer to manage comfort with tires vs. frame compliance. If I'm going to ride rough terrain and/or jumps and bumps, I want full suspension. This is why I think where you ride and the feel you like will steer you towards a bike that works for the individual.
PS: just got off the phone with Seasucker customer service. Told them I needed the rack sooner due to an upcoming trip. 10 mins later, I got an invoice for the increased shipping; 10 mins after that, a shipping notification. Top notch!

We have a lot of foodies here.
Steak and roasted potato salad.
Also thinking about taking my 993 C4 cab to an off-road overlanding festival next weekend. Sort of want to do donuts on the grass and I think some of the trails are sufficiently mild that I don’t think I would have an issue (she is at stock US height and has LSD because she is a C4). No one shows up in a Porsche, even cayennes or macans. Anyone planning on going? It is near state college PA? Anyone into the overland scene? You all have raptors, right. 🤣

Otherwise I will bring one of the actually suitable 4x4 vehicles (I have six, three shown below). Not a #brandist ok maybe a little as I really like land rovers.

She's a lot of fun!
I'll keep an eye out of the bright/multi colored tape, especially now that I know you carry treats
It's not bad, except for hot days and climbing in the saddle -t hen it is definitely slippery. Supacaz has some pretty cool offerings, will try another combo when this wears out.
Chris has solid advise, ride a few different options. In addition to different frame geometry, bike mfg's will spec the bikes with either Shimano or SRAM (sometimes Campy). Each has their own unique engagement, and people tend to prefer one method over another. Of course a littler extra in the budget moves you up on the feature list too!

Continue to depreciate as much as possible.
Drove WGI and PittRace in past two weekends. Great fun.
^Pink rays of sunrise bounce off Agate early Sat morning.
Car is now worthless. Will need to pay someone to take it away (but not until I’m ready)
Sweet yellow 993 FS - I imagine it won’t last long!
