Continental Orange aka BlutOrange was available all the way
up to 993-era cars. Great color. Shame it's no longer approved.
Having seen all these colors in person,
Gulf: Has a lot of white in it, very pastel
Signal: A lot of yellow
Continental: Very red, looks like Ferrari Rosso Dino
Pastel: I would say the most neutral
****
Zamirz: As you might you recall, 'Tangerine', color code 018,
was 'Blutorange'...not 'Continental', color code 107.
A Rennlister (see below) from this forum tried to get 'Tangerine/Blutorange'
018 approved for the 991 at PAG. I helped a little with that...
But it was denied years ago, just before 'Lava Orange' was introduced.
***
And about a year or so later, someone tried to get 'Continental Orange'
approved...and it was also shot down!

This photo of color samples of various Porsche 'orange' colors
together might help give you a better idea of the differences.
I included this photo years ago in my custom ordering threads
& it has always been very helpful to me in sorting out the Porsche
'oranges'!
^ Eduardo to the rescue! Thanks for clearing that up.

Interesting to note that 'Aubergine', the historic/vintage
color (025) from the MY1972/1973 longhood 911 that
was featured in a famous sales brochure of the period:
I did see a Continental Orange Porsche Exclusive 918 at the local dealer last year. Beautiful color...then again, I'm sure the 918 can make any color look good. The extra $ on the invoice just to get some of the options was crazy!

Yes, several 'oranges' were approved for 918 customers
that have not yet translated into color approvals for those
currently ordering a .2 991 or 718. It included 'RS Orange',
color code 8C6, which was dropped from the PTS list in
MY2011 after being used on the .1 997 gt3 RS & some
'Limited Edition' Boxsters & Cayman S models.
Saw this beauty just now at my local Lowe's.
Has me thinking maybe I should order my
Panamera Sport Turismo in UV?
That is not 'Ultraviolet', Lapis. It's called 'Manischewitz Concord Pearl',
an expensive three stage-paint process with a 'frozen' final matte coat!
The Porsche color code for it is 'Z69'. It has proven popular in Northern
NJ, Brooklyn, parts of Long Island & the 'Borscht Belt' (aka the Jewish
Alps) in the Catskills.

There is a report that a certain
VIP was able to get on his 991
gt3 RS painted in 'Liquid Metal
Chrome Blue' by special request.
In the photo it looks more like
'Liquid Metal Silver'...but who
knows.
RS Orange to me is the purest colour Orange going. Amazing how many PTS colours that are no longer approved. I'd like to know what the main reason for declining a certain colour? It can't be fading over time b/c one would think Porsche would not test a paint on a certain model and have the luxury of time to see how it actually wears, out in the real weather elements.

Pretty sure it's Gulf Orange on the right,
but I'll verify later (including the hue on
the left). Or, Eduardo can weigh in with
his PTS eyes.
I would think the darker 'Gulf' on the left
and the lighter/brighter 'Pastel' on the
right. I was hopping for 'Bette Davis'
eyes...but I will settle for PTS e-*****!
And please don't make fun of my
'Lavender' Chevy wagon! We made
a deal next time I saw him on the
Lowe parking lot & I am the proud
new owner. He kept the ladder though!
