First of all, seats are all outsourced at PAG. They
are not made/stitched in any way at the saddlery
shop in Zuffenhausen. I was at that exact saddlery
shop last week & can verify what I am saying above.
There they do stitch other leather panels for 991/718
models, although we are not 100% sure if any of the
gt3/gt4 specific interior parts are made there or
outsourced. The fact that gt models have so few
interior leather options facilitate their ousourcing,
should PAG decide that.
There ARE reasons why PAG restricts colors of
interiors & deviated stitching on their gt3/gt4
models. But that it is NOT that the saddlery
shop in Zuffenhausen 'can only run red and
white for GT3'!
Who at Porsche Exclusive in Atlanta were you
talking to?
***Any interior part of the vehicle that is requested
to match exterior paint is normally done by outside
supplier too (air vents, various small trim pieces).
Whether it is normal color offerings or PTS, it is
all planned well ahead. In case of PTS, they order
enough paint to do everything requested AT TIME
OF ORDER LOCKING UP...and also deliver the PTS
paint to external suppliers to complete smaller parts
when the paint is mixed. For example, the option
for 'air vents colored to match exterior paint' cost
basically the same, whether it's done in 'Guards Red'
...or in PTS 'Signal Green'. So less bending over than
you think!
As you know, we work hard here to report information
on PTS that our readers can count on. So I would like
you to double check your information for the sake of
clarity.
***Correct.
***Everyone is entitled to their opinion. Fine.

However, it is important that i reiterate that what I wrote, is exactly what I was told.. i Also, work hard to never report anything inaccurate here, and when what I hear is directly from the horse's mouth.. i have to consider it to be true, even when it doesn't make sense. This employee was incredibly patient, helpful, and otherwise knowledgeable when we were there to custom-spec a full CXX interior for a friend's car.

So why does Porsche restrict colors of interiors and deviated stitching on the GT3? I am ordering Racing Yellow exterior and I am stuck with either grey/black interior (think minivan and prison walls) or red/black (think McDonalds). I have asked for black/ Racing Yellow interior but have not heard back. I am not optimistic.
BTW, deviated stitching will be available starting with November allocations.

Nick,
Initially Porsche is just trying to ram up the production, it will be quicker for them to stock pile parts just restricting to a couple options. One reason why most models have restricted options initially and then the flood gate opens later on.
The first schedule runs of GT3 will be quite tightly grouped together on the line, so it doesn't quite have time to wait for custom stitched parts. Later on they would space out the cars with more of other models being built in between and opening up the tight timing. At the initial run of the last GT3RS, they were basically lined up every other car on the line, later on, they would be dotted here and there with a lot of other models in between. Same with the 911R production before. When I visited the factory just before Le Mans last year, 5 911R were already done sitting on the lot and quite a few more were on the line. But then when I was there in November it was almost at the end of the production run and it was just a trickle of them, think 2-3 was on the line. These last of the runs cars are the most customized. Believe it or not, one of my friend's 911R, one o the most heavily customized car, is still not being delivered yet.

Speccing PTS *and* getting it in a heritage color is why the resale is higher than BMW or Audi. People are nostalgic and the 911 is the only car in the world that is "retro" without ever having gone retro, that's a key factor.

One of the most lovely, yet seldom ordered, interior
color options in the recent (past) 981 as offered by
PAG. It was called 'Agate Grey / Amber Orange', a
dual (two-tone) leather interior. Quite striking, but
offered mostly in the last year of the 981 as a 'combo'
& thus mostly overlooked by customers & dealers alike!

PS The gt2 type LWB were offered in ROW markets by PAG
...but not in US. I do agree that the 'Amber Orange' leather
on these gt2 seats (e.g. UK market) make them look very special!

A few more showing how great the combo looked. I think we are going to be a little disappointed (interior-wise) with our new Porsche as the Agate combo was so striking, especially with the orange accents on other parts of the car.
