If you listen to the drivetribe interview, AP sounds very excited about the engine.
^Exactly... and yeah this vid is worth watching/listening to more than once. Complainers-- give up your spots/allocations.

my code so far. struggling. went from PCCB to steel to match red interior and fear of costs. think satin alum wheels will also be unique. this will change 100 times until car is ordered lol
I recommend that you look at the silver on the 991 GT3 wheels in person.

In my opinion the silver on there is spectacular. The paint formula is not the same one as for -say- Carrera S wheels' silver. The platinum satin on the other hand is the same on gt3 and S wheels. And IIRC platinum satin was default on 991.1 GT3 and gt3rs.

In the rarity department I'm pretty sure the silver is serving better.

If anyone runs across any new articles or videos that have original content, please post them here so I could link them to the first page if they're good.

As we all know, there's too much cut and paste journalism these days.

I just listened to it, and some audio they had on the track. Sounds good. That video must have had issues.

I would not be surprised when the next RS comes out, that they have extracted more power by allowing the engine to rev to 10,000rpm because the technology they have used potentially allows them to do that.
This would make sense when they say they had the engine on the bench screaming and putting out 608hp... what they can now offer for the next RS is same displacement but more power from incremental rev limit increases.

I have mentioned this in a post...I don't remember if on this thread or in a different one :
Please do some research online on the differences between a double mass flywheel and a single mass. The difference between the 2 is quite substantial. The crankshaft is a high precision balanced assembly. If you create the slightest unbalance in that spinning assembly,it will send vibrations throughout the entire engine at certain RPM range. In time, the potential failures could be as minor as a Rear Main Seal oil leak,to the catastrophic failure of the engine.
AP is saying this crankshaft is different : larger and has drilled holes through it. Oil is fed through those holes to the rod bearings. He also specifically said that the single mass flywheel will create vibration that will hurt the main bearing in its vicinity.
Do any of you want to be the one to try it? Go right ahead! You will be a great test bed. AP made it very easy for you : he clearly said the single mass flywheel from the R WILL FIT on this engine! Forget about warranty though and this engine is not quite proven yet. All we have is words at the moment.
Sure...all of the above could just be AP's BS and he is just protecting the R by not offering the LWFW,but are you willing to take that bet?

Anyone catch the last sentence on the configurator in this paragraph?

Clearly there is a lot of noise surrounding this car and count me excited!

Can someone explain how the new motor will be able to consistently sustain 9k rpms frequently without the need for valve adjustments considering the solid lifters w/shims?

Takes me back to the dreaded E46 M3 days where that motor that rev'd < 8k rpms required valve adjustments every 30k miles.

Looking forward to being educated on this matter.

Cheers,
Sanjay

See Porsche videos posted on first page of this thread. Much more realistic.
