GR has a lot of orange in it. You have to take photographs with external light for it to look "red".

By contrast, Carmine in most pictures has a very deep red look to it. In person, it has hints of blue & purple.

Then again, Lava Orange photographs infinitely better than it does look in person. Just like some people

If you want "red", you need PTS Ferrari Red like Calexio stated. PTS should be available soon on the configurator with all colors to choose from.
You want "RED" you order CR. It is the best red any Car Manufacturer makes to date. Better than Ferrari red because it has a uniqueness to it but it is RED.

GR has a slight orange hue but it still is a very good red. Just do not put it next to CR because you will really see the orange hue to it. I have owned both and like them both

Did you take a picture of them side by side?

You know what's great about obscure references? They can be so damn obscure that they become open to interpretation. In this case, in my post above I was reminiscing to a night in Bangkok when I asked the girl I was with to be straight with me, had she always been a girl or did she start out as a boy.. the response was "Same same but diffeLent".. still going to therapy for that little experience.

Guards red is like the girl in Bangkok.. looks red, but underneath, in the right light.. you are horrified to know it's just lava orange with a red dress on. (Same same but.....)

Depending on the the light, there can be an orange hue to GR. By the same token CR has a lot of black in it, and reminds me of blood when compared to a neutral red like Ferrari red.

I prefer GR over CR for this reason, as well the brightness of GR, and so I'm getting GR on my .2 GT3.

Saving money is a bonus, but not the reason I choose GR. Porsche doesn't charge for guards red because it's an historic Porsche color they've offered free for decades, just like black, white, and racing yellow.

If I were to pay extra for a red color, it would be "absolute red", the Ferrari red that Alexio mentioned, but that's PTS, and PTS is unlikely to happen for my allocation.

FWIW, I have a wide variety of Porsche, BMW, and Ferrari colors that I "mixed" according to the real-world recipes and use in the Assetto Corsa game. Also spent too much time with the digital representation (metallic paints require a thick statistics book, ugh).

I can provide pretty reasonable screenshots of cars that are available for AC in any of those colors. Or I can give you the "skin" and you can use it in the game's car viewer yourself. Just ask if you need to see how a specific color looks.

Ha.. this is EXACTLY the problem. This was all the same car, it was guards red. But different light and photo processing can make it look like carmine, or lava. or almost anything else really.

What it comes down to is the white balance setting when the image is captured. If the white balance is set correctly each time, the color will be faithfully reproduced each time.

I somewhat doubt that these different angle captures came from the same camera.
