Never seen any light as bright as these LED's. Try one at night and you will see. I understand if you are trying to save $$.

Is this the post?

Typical luminous intensity of high beams:

--> Halogen 162,500 cd (energy drawn: 220 Watts per pair)
--> Xenon .. 175,000 cd (energy drawn: 140 Watts per pair)
--> LED ..... 237,500 cd (energy drawn : 72 Watts per pair)
--> Laser ... 425,000 cd (energy drawn : 25 Watts per pair)

In the US, the high beams are downgraded to get below the 150,000 cd limit.

Is it possible to code the lights to EU specs after delivery? I know BMW guys are reprogramming their LEDs to EU spec after delivery.

Maybe a letter from David Donahue could convince you otherwise, but no big deal if that's your info.

Yes, I remember seeing this thread a while back and glad I ignored it. I have had both lights. The only way you know is when you try both on a dark night.

Appreciate your personal experience.

I must admit I was underwhelmed with the brightness of the 991.1 GT3 bi-xenons with PDLS, as I still recall driving some mountain roads at speed at night on my way to Watkins glen to do my first track day in the GT3, and being worried I was going to get into an accident because the lights were not as bright as I thought they should be.

If there is a noticeable real world increase in brightness in the LEDs, i'm getting them for my .2 GT3.

The leds are nice, I have them on another car. The color temp and no falloff are excellent for vision. Not a massive leap from the xenons, but definitely better.

To me they aren't better enough to accept that tacked-on looking ring. I wouldn't take them as a no-cost option--the 4 light cluster around the main light is way cooler looking. Every time I've seen those lights on the road over the past 3 or 4 years I think to myself "damn those are cool looking". So glad they are finally available on the 911, the last Porsche to get them for some reason.

Tastes are subjective of course. If someone likes the led ring look that's all that matters. Someone at Porsche thought it was great enough to put as the highest tier option.

If i wanted this option "Headlight cleaning system covers painted in deviating exterior color" to match the standard silver wheels, would i pick GT Silver or Rhodium Silver?

On my .1 they are silver / maybe even chrome as standard or at least my car came that way and i think it would look great on the .2 with the silver wheels.

I very much prefer the standard option versus the LED (aesthetically speaking only). I like the clustered 4 points, don't like the ring from the LED lights at all. I wasn't going to option other lights anyway (for budget reasons), but personally nice to know the standard option is what I like best.

^^^ see. LED headlights. Running 4 points around the halo as they always have.

On the bi-xenon PDLS the 4 point lights are in the center. No more running lights on the bumper.
Sameas the 991.2 Carrera

I prefer this look:

So the LED's are the only black version right now. I'm sure black PDLS will show up soon.
Bi-xenon headlights with PDLS will look exactly like the Bi-xenon without PDLS?

ladies & gents I think I solved it for the non LED lights

here are screen shots in 2D and 3D of the GTS and GT3. We all know the GTS non LED lights come in black. You will see when I selected PDLS on GT3 for non LED the configurator shows you the exact same color lights as on the GTS. I also did one in non LED without PDLS in 2D in order to see the difference.

In conclusion the above basically is saying when you select PDLS for non LED you get the same as GTS lights, which we all know to be black.
