Do you know the engine number or the build date?

Do we have one with issues on an F engine later than F03047?

Poll shows 3 so far. Would be nice to know details about those 3.

Open the engine lid it will be on the top right hand corner when you pop it open

You can also open the frunk and see it on the passenger's side of the frunk cover if that makes sense

What am I missing here?
Between F 3048# and G #5372 . How do we know if its an F or G with a general response since there are some differences between the last F and first G (i.e. rev limiter and valve springs)?

The DLC is just a bandaide. The main factors I think that ameloriated/ resolved the issue of upper valve train failures were (a) revised oiling with the F and G (b) revised rev limit with the G and revised valve springs with the F replacement and G engines.

The failing valve trains exhibited wear on specific lobes. Wear is from excessive pressure and lack of lubercation on specific lobes. Not lack of DLC.

Even without DLC a valve train should last 100K miles.

Increased oiling, reduced revs ergo less pressure and heat and revised springs for reduced pressure equals less or minimized wear.

Waxer, can you point me to data showing these changes? I am not aware that the GT3's RPM rev limit dropped from 9K between those revisions.

Rob, I believe Waxer is talking about G engines in the GT3 and G engines with a reduced rpm in the GT3RS's.

Yeah, I had a feeling. I am really trying to focus on the GT3 since all of the failures (I think) are attributed to them. I should clarify this in the original post.

At the outset of there cars there were lots of threads regarding break in. One group argued for going by the book, another arguing that such was an old wives tale and that the car should be flogged right out of the dealers lot. AP clearly stated in RRV that break in is essential. I wonder if there is a correlation between break in and longevity/failure.
