That is because nobody cared about them. LOL
Yes, the 2012 boxster black edition was numbered with a plaque on the glovebox. 987 numbered units.

I think you'll have to revise your statement.

They're holding up quite well: After 3 years, Cars.com lists seven 50th Anniversary models for above or near MSRP $. By comparison, I don't believe 997.1 GT3s will do as well, particularly after the 997.2 GT3s launch.

The 50th Anniversary model includes the last of the non-GT naturally aspirated motors -- and without any 100+page threads questioning the engine's reliability.

I forgot the 911 50th Anniversary did have a tag on the dashboard limited to 1963 copies. I stand corrected. I don't think this model is selling below MSRP and if it does it probably have high mileage or some questionable history.

If it did have a plaque on the dashboard on the 2012 Boxster Black Edition, then I am mistaken and stand corrected. I love the 911 model and my first taste of the Cayman series is my GT4. I did a quick search and didn't find 2012 Boxster Black Edition for sale to check if the price tanked.

What I can say in all of this is that I love the Porsche brand, as most of the members here are too. I buy them because of its performance (made for the street with the highest production presence and usage on the track), and reputation (value). There are other ways and means to earn money and invest money. I truly believe the appreciation of any given PORSCHE is a BIG bonus if that is the case, but the gain financially it provides the owners shouldn't be the primary reason and driving force why one should buy one.

Now I know. Thanks for the correction. When I shop around I'll try to see one of these "Limited Edition" Black Edition Boxster.

Good thing I like my Porsches to have wings.

R prices won't tank but they'll drift closer to MSRP and probably settle around $50k-$100k over is my best guess.

For the record as I stated earlier I'm firmly against a wingless gt3...

Thanks for the info. Your posts are always spot on.

Will the wingless GT3s have a 911R type diffuser?
Will the wingless GT3 be more of a GT less track i.e. poor man's R?

thanks!

I have been wrong before so I should not always be trusted lol, but yes on diffuser....I can't tell you what they are thinking, because they are not. The VW problems have hurt the product spec portion of brains

CJ, I'm going to do it just to see your reaction. Complete w houndstooth, gauges, engine cover, and old GT3 bumper 🤘ðŸ»

I prefer to be the only one with wingless RS and GT3 to go along w a real R. All in black Wingless for the win!

Well if this is true, it makes my decision on whether to get the MT or PDK s, much easier. If there's no wing with the MT, I'll definitely go with the PDK s.

What about the 986 50th anniversary SE, numbered plaque - 1953 cars. I had number 475/1953 👍

Wow that's cool!. Thanks for sharing. I did not realize there are more models PORSCHE released on a "Numbered" basis.

So do you have any idea if your 986 50th anniversary car is selling below, the same, or above MSRP? One thing I have observed is that these "Numbered" cars do command premium, unless like what i said mileage is higher than normal use and or questionable history.

You would have to be completely out of your gourd to buy a 2012 boxster or cayman black at msrp or above. Even with zero miles 5 years later. There was nothing special about those cars other than an extra 10hp and standard free options.
