Porsche doesn't exist. What are you driving?

I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet, but the Jaguar F-Type SVR is one sexy beast! I'd seriously consider it along with the M4/M6, AMG GT-S, or R8. A used 458 would also do.

You guys really like BMW? I can only assume we are not talking about the new ones, because I am pretty underwhelmed with my wife's 2016 550i. So many design flaws. The look of the new AMG are also something I can't get past. The long front end is a killer for me. Are we talking about the same cars?

i think people are talking about two different things
the question should be phrased like this
if porsche doesn't exist
daily driver choice
weekend car choice

That is a good point. The responses have been really good. I have a good list of cars to check out, many of which I have never heard of. So if I get to the 2nd toy stage one day I know where to get my list from.

Question as phrased is interesting, though.
If Porsche never existed, and therefore modern 911s don't exist, I think the two most logical 997/991 alternatives I've seen here are R8 and GT350. The R8 offers a great drive, and the GT350 offers an interesting 2+2 package with good looks and a lot of performance. Evora might be one more. If it's about classic Porsches, there are so, so many good cars out there...and many of them make for really nice contrasts to older and newer Porsches.
