Don't discount the 991 GT3 as a great daily driver. Especially with PDK. Works well for me after 2 years driving GT3 7 days a week. GT3 RS may not be as suitable for DD use.

3. You don't need AWD (most likely not in CA)
4. You spend 99% of the time driving on the streets and not on the track.

I have read so many reviews and the overwhelming consensus is the GT cars are so amazing and even more so on the track. I have also read many times that if the owner doesn't track their GT car (or doesn't plan to track the Porsche they buy), then the GT is a wasteful as it is not being used for its intended purpose.

Not trying to start another debate between the merits of TTS vs RS as the pros and cons to each are well known and supported.

Just would like to hear "real life" experience for the vast majority of us who just get to drive their Porsche at limited intervals.
Great question and very hard question to answer. But I will try...

Its almost a toin coss because I rarely drive the TTS during the week. I have two boys 13 and 15 and they both play soccer and football. So during the week its either the pana s or Q7 TDI. Also I have owned alot of P cars including many GT3's. At the end of the day I am more of a turbo guy. Once you get used to the boost its hard to go back. Just add exhaust and maybe slighty stiffer suspension. You really need to drive both and you win either way!

I'm daily driving my 2016 GT3 with the carbon fiber buckets. In fact, I sold my Panamera Turbo for it. Very usable every day!

Same here(sold my Panny turbo-though it was great) depending on the use, it's fine for a daily driver. I can even fit a couple of bags in it back in a pinch. Can't beat that hi rev howl!

I had a 997 TT and my take on it is it was the best blend of DD and crazy I've ever owned. It can be driven modestly and is completely tame, easy to live with, etc. or you can get on it and GO.

The GT3 is completely different. It's a street legal race car. Behaves like one in all regards. Sure you could DD it, but I wouldn't. I drive it more than I expected but I like that I have an alternative. It's a track weapon for me . . .mostly.

You DD GT3 guys, if you know, how does the ride in the GT3 compare to a C2S with SPASM/PDCC? Similar?

RS is way less firm ride than standard GT3....and the buckets also seem to be more soft/comfy.

You're saying the RS is softer than the regular GT3? I was under the impression that it was the opposite.

RS has more sidewall front and back and it rides better than the GT3. It would be a better DD than a GT3 IMO other than drawing more attention.

Definitely firmer than my 997.1 C2S, 458 Spider and LP610-4. Use the front lifter all the time to negotiate driveways. Steering and throttle response are very direct and linear and PDK shifts are telepathic. I could DD my 2014 X3 but where's the fun in that? X3 is great beach car, GT3 is great DD if one is into the theater of sound, vibration and road feel.

The car is very capable in all respects...the power is intoxicating. Additionally I really like the PCCB but I don't do much tracking with this car. I am a decent driver no expert...but I find the TTS more than capable in the twisty canyons of Malibu. About halfway through the run I meet my friend in his UV RS. I will admit I couldn't stay with him in the canyons. He's a better driver but he was way out in front of me. Only time I could gain was in some long straights.

After second canyon run I took the wheel of the RS. All i can say is HOLY ****!!! I have never driven a street car with this king of incredible grip and also very impressed with the motor. It is really an incredible car and if your going to the track it is a celebration.

Porsche is really on its A game. Going to keep my TTS for now but that 9k howl and grip is truly amazing.
Your RS has a 9k redline? Now, that car is a keeper ...

I found this to be the case. RS somehow rides better, but with my old GT3, had the sofas that are a lot better to DD in.
