This is actually the smart way to do things imv, with regard to paint codes. This way you ensure that any paint work is done to an approved standard, in addition to ensuring that the paint used is of a quality to the required standard. Some of the MSO paints are very special.

When a big conglomerate jerk corp buys a store it's a poop lollipop for anyone wanting the white glove treatment - at any brand. Ford or Ferrari or Porsche or McLaren.

We need service to stay alive, and I would definitely be less interested in getting more mclaren stores if the situation was different. All factories try to lock outsiders out of the ECU, and likewise they don't want us selling parts to foreign countries as well.

The manufacturers all try to control the service and ECU stuff but some are just more proficient.
Yes I completely get it. If I were an owner of a dealership of course I'd want a monopoly in service.

I think Mclaren as a brand is on the rise for sure. It created in my mind the GOAT - the Mclaren F1.

For mere mortals like me, if I'm worrying about the cost of service then it means I can't afford it. I'm in the bracket where I can comfortably own the higher end Porsches (GT's, not 918's) but cannot afford the cost of ownership of Mclarens.

I can't wait to see what they do with the LT version of the P14.

Need to see it in person and/or video, but that wheelbase just looks so long to me. Looks like the stretch limo of supercars. Or like it's dragging a two wheel trailer behind it.

That is a pretty bad picture of the car. It is much better in person...

I test drove the 650S and the 570 models last weekend and they were down-right awesome! I'm still thinking it over.

One thing in particular I liked was being able to vary the Powertrain and Handling controls independently. Great idea and easy to use. I hope Porsche will be able to do this soon.

There was nothing I didn't like about the 650 other than its depreciation and my wife found it difficult to get in and out of the car. I'm also a little anxious about not driving a manual trans. Other than that it was fabulous. It was very comfortable, handled beautifully and was surprisingly easy to drive. And although it looks like a mean machine from the outside, on the inside it's smooth and calm.

One thing... the SA did show me some photos of the 720S that I had not seen before. Don't know if this has been mentioned, but the doors on the 720, rather than being dihedral scissors lift up vertically from the center of the car. When both doors are raised a metal strip connecting the front windshield to the rear section remains. Sort of like the Mercedes Gullwing. They claimed that this provides more room on the sides of the car even after being lifted. And it looked like it did.

Altogether it was a fabulous experience.....I didn't get my name on the 720 list, but it will be if I pick up the 650.

...and I would be remiss if I didn't thank C.J.

I am pretty sure the doors are still dihedral (pivoting from the front corner of the door). Part of the roof is made up by the door. With the door design and the lower side sill, ingress and egress from the car is much easier.

What was your personal opinion of turbo lag and brake feel on the 570?
