Can 95% of drivers even extract anymore performance from an R?

Oh, the R is a "drivers car". That's until the next "drivers car" comes out. Marketing at its finest.

The R is marketed as a Drivers Car but clearly it is just a collectors car that has lined the 1% and infuriated the other 99% ... Yes, indeed marketing is a very powerful tool. Porsche never actually expected the R to accumulate any real miles or be used, let's be honest here.

Same thing when comparing 997.2rs and 4.0l

Even as an owner of 4.0l I don't think it's twice the car of the 3.8l

The wing itself does not make it a GT3 - all of the other things do... The 9K redline, the feel, the sound, etc. I had a GTS; it was a great car. IMHO, it's no GT3. Personally, I would like a GT3 without a wing just to be a little more discreet. Leave everything else alone; just delete the wing. (add the deffuser if necessary)

Just one opinion

How many iterations of the 911 are out there? Too many! It's like reinventing the wheel each time and it worked. Genius! But why did PAG start producing street GT cars and why did they give it a wing? So they can remove it now, slap a GT3 badge on it and call it " street friendly ",all because it comes with a manual?! It's retarded. They're not that stupid. In my view, you want fastest and safest you buy pdk,you want fun and involvement you buy manual,it's that simple. In good driver's hands the gap between pdk and manual will be so small,it's not even funny, you'll see...

The R is the beginning of a different segment part of the GT department, announced by AP a while ago(for those paying attention). That segment will fill other desires that a GT badged car can't fill : wing delete, manual, cheaper, higher production numbers etc. But it won't wear a GT3 badge on the back. Great, more iterations!

Don't even get me started on the stripes : they belong to the R. They might be available to order at some point through your parts department, but they certainly won't be offered by PAG for the new GT3!

My 2c...

Wouldn't it be nice to know how many are actually stored vs driven?

So you're saying they're going to make a 911 GTS model?

The GTS does not benefit from the special parts a GT product comes with : better engine, suspension and brakes...to name a few.

So much contempt for the R, Porsche and somewhat for the R owners...
