My .1 GT3 came with MPSC2s. I am no hero driver but I found them to be reasonably safe in the wet, especially as compared to the original ones. Sorry to see the car. Hopefully the guy on the phone is the driver.

I think they're fine in the rain, especially when they are newer and it's fairly warm outside.

The first "proper" drive I did in my 991 was during June 2015 on some largely unfamiliar roads in Western North Carolina that were very wet. The tires had about 1,500 miles on them and they were just fine, just as good as Pilot Super Sports IMO. The car telegraphs a lot of feedback to the driver so no real reason to get out of sorts if you have experience driving a performance car...

That said, we have no clue what happened to the unfortunate owner, not necessarily a single car incident.
Agreed. Have cruised back from LRP and WGI multiple times on MSPC2's at 80+ in steady rain. Just requires a little judicious throttle app and common sense. If you want real fun try them in sub-zero temps....

Sorry for the owner/driver.

Every time you see something like this posted you get the moralist and the government infomercial safety speaker. You don't know how this has happened to the guy! It could easily happen to anyone, even if you think you're Senna or Uncle Sam.

Hood looks like crushed from above. Drove under a truck?

Cup2s might be fine on wet road but not if there is standing water and a driver who doesn't understand hydroplaning...

The first time I saw Cup2s in person, I could not believe they were street legal.

Just playing devils advocate. It is possible it's someone else's fault.

The only thing tragic is that the guy taking the pic is driving a "Prius."

I won't get into how it happened or who was at fault. However, it's nice to see the hood do exactly what it was designed to do. Fold and not go back into the windshield.

You live in San Diego? So, you have to park the car 3 days per year?

One of my favorite places

Anyone who thinks MSPC2's are bad in the rain clearly has never driven on the original MPSC's or other streetable R comp's. At the slightest hint of moisture, they took on the personality of well fed gremlin's after midnight. Basically, they wanted to kill you. The Cup2's are pretty respectable in the wet.

Who knows what happened. Glad he's ok. Cars can be replaced.

jsut like i used to jump off 6' platform no problem. but i am smarter now. why tempt fate.
