We should set up a pool. I'd be happy to clean up.

In for $100 on 3.8 and offered with both PDK-S and manual.

I have no insider info on what 991.2 GT3 will be, but that scenario would kind of make sense.

- Easy way to upgrade performance of 991.1 GT3 slightly, bringing the performance closer to 991 RS, but without all the aero, wider tires, etc.

- Can use engine of 991.1 RS with some upgrades to handle 9K.

- More engine justifies higher price tag.

- PDK-only stays true to the formula, reduces devaluation of 991.1 GT3 and RS, and keeps the car away from the territory of the 911R.

Unfortunately, out of the 5 specs your dealer provided from PAG, your dealer was wrong on 8 of them!

I heard that the new GT3RSTT will have a motor, wheels, seats... come on guys. The speculation is out of control. Just sit back and wait for the announcement. It will eventually come out. Making unfounded, undocumented, irrational statements does nothing but stir the pot. The truth is that no one really knows what's coming or Porsche would be putting out the information. Everyone here wants to be "that guy" or "my dealer said". We're all adults here, I think. Happy New Year...

Cannot tell a lot but you guys can expect 650+ HP.
There will be no GT2, only a RS

The Technical Project Leader (the guy below AP) gave the following spec re6quirement for the engine to "our" engine department: "If I am driving on the Autobahn at 300kph and then hit full throttle, I need to feel a punch in the back".

So it should be fun

2 New Users at their first post/thread

1st immediatly begged to stick around
the 2nd immediatly flamed on

GT2 RS doesn t hurt anyone here whilst
any GT3RS "nostalgia NA market" competitor
is disturbing someone re-flipping dreams??

...food for thoughts

Did you dealer show you the "spec" sheet from PAG? Can you take a pic and post here?!!!!! Wow. First post and you crack the code with insider intell. Just like Bletchley Park and the Enigma. You sir should be "Knighted by the Queen"!

The reality is in WWII war terms you would be a great double agent for the Germans and receive the Knights Cross for selling that misinformation.

In my best Donald Trump voice "WRONG".

Don't take this criticism in the wrong way. Your post did make me chuckle.

FXZ: Me and you buddy. I bet 991RS prices will rise now that production is fertig gestellt.

Heres a quote from the latest edition of Total 911 in an article about the 997 GT3 RS 4.0

"Could this be the last manual Porsche 911 RS product that we will ever see? That is the question that may be left unanswered for another few months yet. Reading between the lines though, and judging by what some sources have told us, don't rule out the 911 R's manual transmission finding its way into the next-generation RS."

Let the speculation continue...

To me the real speculation will be not MT option. There are enough people now demographic wise that will still opt for the PDK and it is a superior trans performance wise. Look at RL polls on the subject. The PDK makes the car noticeably faster and much faster and easier to concentrate on the track at speed. With the speed these new cars generate thats a MAJOR advantage. There is even talk of continued production of the GT350 with a PDK like trans option.

Remember mt is fun no doubt but it brings back mt issues like missed shifts, clunky changes due to driver error, over rev issues....

The REAL speculatoin IMHO will be whether the new GT3RS.2, if there is one (and I think there will be one) which we likely won't see until 2020 and maybe annouced 2019, will be a TT or with some other power adder. Nearly every competitor to the GT3 is going TT. Likely even the new GT500 will be a 5.0 with a TT. Even the mainline Carrera's are going TT. NA will be "horse and buggy" by 2019/2020. Look at the new AMG GT R. How is a 991.2RS going to keep up with that NA? Are they going 4.2 liter? I think that would result in a drop of rpms further. More mass to throw around. Likely still not enough power NA.

I know AP said the GT3 cars will stay NA. But he is the same guy who also said "flappy paddles are for grandmas" years ago prior to the 991GT3. They will figure a way to TT the GT3 so there is very little turbo lag and "engineer" the sound. AP will explain why they had a change of heart and mind and explain how its superior to the NA for a gazillon reasons...and it may be.

My bet is they will have to go TT to keep up with the competitiion. There is not enough weight to lose to keep up with the kind of power the competition will be fielding. In World Challenge/FIA etc... where you have BOP then I an see them fielding a NA RSR or R. But for public consumption there is no BOP in the real world and tests results the magazines will publish that the public laps up and is guided by will show the TT cars running away from the NA stuff. MHO.
