Actually the 2016 .1 GT3 already has a new designed oil system.

Are you in Paris? You saw the oiling changes in detail? Was Frank W. there to explain them if so?

Yes, that's the main difference between the Gen 1 GT3, Gen 1.5 GT3RS/911R vs the Gen 2 GT3R engine.

Porsche beefed up the oiling capacity to the heads in Gen 2 engines.

So this confirms all with 991.1GT3, 991 GT3RS and 911R have engines with insufficient oiling capacity for long term longevity?

It doesn't make sense. Porsche took 3 years to work that out? They increased oil pressure, replaced pumps, redesigned filters and added oil lines to The above cars during 3 years production but then moved on to DLC coatings so the oiling can't be the only changes on these engines.

I'm betting valve train gear re design?

This would make the manual .2 GT3 a complete winner vs the 911R.

It makes complete sense. They didn't subject it to motorsport. Unfortunate it took three years but at least they're on the program now.

Agreed, but they have had the DFI running reliably in Motorsport now for 9 months with the bulk of development on that engine completed in November 2015 from sources in the Motorsports Team. It seems errant of them to then design a DLC cam for the July onward production 911.1 GT3RS and new 911R engine if oiling was truly the outstanding issue. They had plenty of time to a address oiling in MA175/6 engines from November 2015.

I dont think the full story is available to us yet.

Yes, very much so including screen shots of the Porsche Parts system in the other thread on GT3 missfires and engine check lights.

I forgot where I get this information. To me, since 16 GT3 is using the RS's oil filter, I think the improvement on RS is also applied to GT3.

Which it is. The 911R is nothing more than a beta car for the 991.2 GT3.

No one believed that.

Which only makes them using Gen 1.5 engines. Quite a bit away from the Gen 2 in the GT3R, GT3 Cup and Gen 2.5 91.2 GT3.
