Swapping Seats (?)

Upon what is this assertion based?
Having tried to make the swap myself in my 2015 GT3 from the base (4-way electric) to the 18-way seats we found that while the seats fit, what we got was 12-way seats. Most crucially, the lumbar adjustment would not function. Upon investigation we found that both the underseat wiring harness and the seat control module are different depending on the seats originally installed in the car. Further experimentation seemed to show that one can move "downwards" in adjustability from 18 to 4 to 2 way adjustments and get the full respective electric capabilities of the replacement seats, but not in the other direction.
Since I recall that other threads in the past year confirmed my experimental findings, and since I suffer from a fairly severe back problem, I would be most interested to learn that something has changed.

Again, this is based on experimentation from February and March 2016. Something may have changed. I opted for a more basic solution until my next car.

Seats are swappable, but you need additional wiring harness and bracket.

I think I will put the buckets in storage and install Recaro CS as they're a middle ground for me. I daily drive the car..
When I sell the car I will reinstall the original seats and bring the Recaros to my next car. This thread has been helpful in getting me pointed in the right direction for my goals. I do plan on swapping my 991.1 GT3 for 991.2 so this is prob. the best route for me.
