Ferrari was profitable for many years before its current explosion. It had a very small facility and limited dealer network. They also made money racing, something Porsche does very well. There's no going back now for Vorsche but it was possible at one time.

Im happy to see the flipping of 911Rs if it truly means they lose VIP status, that will make car bjuying easier for mere mortals like me

Just keep in mind the car will only sell if someone is crazy enough to pay the asking price. If you're not interested, I don't worry about it.
