Default Any Detailers in here?

Hello,

I recently received my GT3 RS from the dealer, and I noticed that the black plastic cover on the engine lid has a white mark, I guess they polished it and the pad burnt the plastic or made it white.

I have some plastic restore products, but I'm not sure if I can use them on this specific part? Since it gets pretty hot and all, the last thing I want to do is stain the part worse, and if I use a restore product I'll most likely have to apply to all of it to make it look even...

Anyone that can advice if I can do that or what I could do?

Thank you.

Agreed with the other guys. Take it back.

For future ref; I'd recommend checking out Adam's Polishes Forums. AWESOME community of people (not employed by Adams) always willing to help answer questions like that.

Your description doesn't quite describe the white mark in enough detail to provide a solution. I'd suggest taking some pics and posting them.

Best of luck and CONGRATS on the RS!

IMO, stay away from the dealer and get a professional shop to fix it. High likelihood the dealer makes it look good today but creates a larger longterm problem.

My dealer has a very good detailer, but they know not to do anything but a light hand wash to my GT cars.

Without a picture, I suspect (and hope for your sake) it's only wax residue. Should easily clean-up, and then top with Aerospace 303.

Do nothing until the dealer see's it and take pics for each of your files. Can always use the pics for reference if ever needed in the future.

I try to avoid the dealer at all costs, so I'd probably try and fix it myself first. Here are some products to try:

http://www.obsessedgarage.com/home/g...dressing-d170/
http://www.obsessedgarage.com/home/g...-in-out-spray/
http://www.obsessedgarage.com/home/g...gyeon-q2-trim/

All are safe for an engine bay.

There is a black shroud that has the fans on it and is matte black and then there is the carbon fiber(black to you?) cover. Which are you speaking of?

Quite frankly, both are super easy to replace. IMHO, do not "fix" it. Replace it with a new part. Your car is new and should be like-new when you get it.

the satin black plastic is a tricky finish....if the buffer hit it, there might be shinny spot on it, these cars come from the port of entry with outrageous half *** cosmetic repairs. if a damp microfiber with a little elbow grease wont take care of it, make your dealer replace it!

This X 100. The car is new. This is what I was implying when I said take it to the dealer.
