Extended Road Trip w Bucket-Seats
#1
Has anyone tried an extended road trip (~500mi) w the bucket seats? Should I leave the GT3 at home and go w a more suitable car instead?
Lots of people have been recommending I use lower lumbar insert please advise on where to purchase.

I know some here have said that they are very comfortable in the LWB for long trips. I found that the buckets in my 997 caused me hip joint pain after an hour or two. Of course the 997 buckets were completely fixed while the 991 buckets at least allow for height adjustment and being able to change position even slightly would probably be helpful.
You should try at least one long road trip in your GT3 and then you'll know whether or not it will be comfortable for you as a long distance tourer.

14 hour trip each way. No problem with 4-6 stops each time. So it was a 12 hour drive, turned into 14.
The key is putting memory foam behind the seat inserts.
It's an awesome car for a solo road trip. I could see two people getting a little tight, depending how you've packed.
(FYI - I have the half cage so using the back is practically not really available option for me.

The longest trip I have taken in the 918 seats was 800 miles each way. I've done several trips of 350 miles non-stop (thanks to the extended range fuel tank!)
Not a single issue with the seats. No discomfort before, during, or after the trip. I'm not that small, not that fit, and not that young.
There is no car more suitable than a GT3. Except maybe a GT4.

One more chiming in. I did 3,600km over 7 days in my RS, longest single day was close to 800km with few stops given the extended tank. I'm tall and at the outer limit to fit in the seats. Zero issues, prob better in most ways than all prior sports cars I've had (tho G50 sport seats are still my all time fave).
Heavily dependent on the individual but highly recommend you give it a try.

I've done it, no issues.
If you bring wife/gf with you or someone not use to the seats may be an issue.

3600 km in two weeks including Stuttgart to Trento Italy in one day...no issues...my daughter did complain that it was a little hard to sleep in the seat cuz the carbon fiber wasn't padded ...first world problems...
Small issue is that they could use a little extra support in lower back, otherwise the seat forces your shoulders forward a little.
Folding seatback would be nice for access to the back..but you can get knapsacks and small duffles in between the two seats.
