For me, paint color depends on the model and year of the car. Thought mint green looked fantastic on the smaller 964 - but would not choose that color on the 991 GT3RS.
Am a huge fan of birch green on the 997 GT3RS - but would not do it for the 918 Spyder. White is my favorite for the Spyder. That car has great lines and I almost think some paint colors detract from those lines. For me its model specific.

My preference for colors depends on the car. Would I do a Voodoo Blue or Birch Green on a RS? Absolutely! Would I do it on a Turbo S? Definitely not!
Some cars I feel like having a bright color fits the build of car. Some cars needs a more classic, subdued, color to fit the characteristic of the car.

PTS is so hot right now...In the past week I've seen a mint green and couple of different green PTS RS's out in the wild in Los Angeles. Ran into this one today.

colors on the approved list are normally chosen by
customers that ask for them for their custom orders.
What we don't yet know is who are the color 'fashionistas'
that decide what colors to offer as 'Standard', 'Metallic' &
'Special Color' for each model. And that palette changes
randomly.
As to the question 'Will we ever know?' I certainly hope so.
I am trying very hard to get PAG to agree to let me meet
the folks that handle PTS and color selection in Germany.
I have been working with Barbara Boeckenhoff (Manager,
Porsche Exclusive - Personal Design Porsche Cars North
America Inc.) to see if it can be arranged. I will go to
Germany at my expense. I just need the interviews to
be approved & set up.
I want to explore that decision making process with them,
plus how the whole PTS program works at Porsche in detail,
so that I can report back to readers (their Porsche customers)
here on Rennlist! It's a fascinating topic...at least to me &
perhaps to some of you too. Wish me luck!
Saludos,

This is the part that baffles the mind. Why can some colours be okay for some models and not okay for others. I do realize that in some instances the paint will be applied to different materials such as aluminum, carbon fibre, plastic, etc... Let's hope you get your wishes and have the interviews with the color "fashionistas". Once again Eduardo, thank you for all your effort. I do find this PTS topic very interesting.
