911R Weight Reduction
#182
Am thinking of putting togther a mini kit for the R to include front and rear shock mounts, titanium springs and one piece forged magnesium wheels. This would be limited to 10 kits.

BTW, I just bought one of the 60 blue coupes that Porsche made for the 60th Anniversary of the Porsche Club Of America. Normally aspirated and with a manual transmission, I could not be happier.

Congratulations. That car has lots of nice touches, and of course the color is stunning.

Back to weight reduction. I finally received the factory undertray with fins and the left and right transmission output flanges. As to the undertray, it will become carbon fiber and the fins will become easily replaceable in case one breaks de to scraping. As to the flanges, they will be cut apart to determine if weight can be saved be making them in a stronger metal.

Robert,
My hat is off to you. I'm a longtime 'weight weenie' but you're taking the stuff I'm interested in to a completely different level. I cannot properly express my admiration to a guy like yourself doing work like this (at the caliber you're doing it). Although I'm sadly not a customer for any of this stuff due to owning a different Porsche model, this is truly TOP SHELF stuff and close to my heart. Bravo!

If anyone is interested in either a carbon fiber engine lid or wing for the R, please contact me. And, btw, one of the most complicated parts on the car is the wing, indeed, more complicated than the engine lid.

I imagine you would get quite a bit of interest in this from 991.1 GT3 and especially 991.2 GT3 buyers. Seems like lots of unsatisfied demand for the "R" will flow into manual GT3s.
