How many 15-16 gt3's have engine replaced?

Well, presumably the dealer clears the CEL after they change the coils. I am sure that earlier in this thread we had people who had to wait for a while for the CEL to reappear, only to finally have it diagnosed with finger follower beaverism.

Meaker, I tried the going thru the gears, shifting at 9000, while still in the country roads, after an aborted 200miles to the track. It took 3 Times. Even one of these to 90ish would not be wise in the city, with hundreds of patrol cars driving around. That’s why I kept searching, remembering that it went into the limp mode while just short of the shift point in 2nd (between 8000and 9000) in the early part of the big carousel or sweeper (at AMP) and found the 2nd gear, 8200 to 8500 test so that I could show the mechanic, and on a close-in hiway (Researd blvd) on which I was driving more or less the same speed (70ish) as the rest of.the traffic.

And to the naysayers on this, I think your comments are just a little bit specious. Sounds like u haven’t been there yet, and if you have, you weren’t charged nearly 2 grand wasted, as it was for the first tests toward arriving at the true problem.. that’s all I will say on that subject!

If it takes 4-6w to diagnose, get a new engine and fit it, that's time I'm paying car payments, road tax, plates and insurance for a car that I can't drive. Also I may miss events like track days that I have paid significant money for. Assuming you get a new engine, you then have to drive 2,000 miles under 4,250rpm to break it in - that's a lot of time and effort where you are not enjoying the car to the full. Yes, I think the extended warranty is great, but it's a premium product and you expect premium engineering and support.

Tapeworm, have you ever been to Zuffenhausen? When a 911 is completed, it is driven out and around the lot at or near full throttle. At least that’s the way it was in the 90s I’d bet my last dollar that they greatly exceed 4250.

I've got this damn "engine control fault" light again in Spa this Saturday. Track day was ruined, and so were 2 more track days I had booked for 2 next days. Plus the trailer to Germany and back.
What a piece of crap! Once Porsche will fix it, I'll sell it.
I had a time to decide if I want .2 or not till tomorrow. Well, tomorrow I will call my dealer and tell them they can give my allocation away. I'm fed up with this.

They will open the engine at the end of next week.
Then I hope Porsche gives this car a new engine, not another top end rebuild.
So second engine lasted 15.000 km after rebuild (3000 track km, the rest is street).
Honestly I don't believe brand new engine will last much longer. Second engine only lasted 18.000 km before rebuild anyway.
In the meanwhile I refused my 991.2 GT3 allocation I've got a week before engine failed again. I really wanted one, but I'm too pissed off to buy another GT car from Porsche.

The 5(4SQUID42: I️ apologize for missing ur question — I️ was a little PO’ed at the time. I’m in the US. Warranty is 4yrs. They are are replacing the engine under normal warranty. BTW, Porsche rep here announced that the problem is much worse in street driving than track, BION!. That suits me just fine. I️ hv made arrangements to leave my car stored at the track until my garage is completed. I prefer for the throttle tro be on the floor, anyway! It’s a membership mtrack, anyway.
My my experience was like many others on here. They told me it was a plug, so I️ 400 miles round trip to determine that it wasn’t. The mechanic had done the coil swapping trick to see if the prob went with the coil. It didn’t of course. The CEL went off 5mins after shutting off the ignition. the service people (except for the mechanic) were not yet convinced yet. When I️ told them that i had discovered a short tes, that was traffic friendly, they had the tech ride with me. I️ ran it up to around 8500 and in 10seconds or less, it went into limp mode. Mad, hell yes! Over800 miles to the track twice for no track time. But then they believe and took. The cover of the valves what POed me was sending me on a long wasted journey. Etc.
They could have communicated what was gg on and maybe I️ could found the problem before I️ went on a long journey to the track!

Brakes are an easy fix. And most who track as much as you do simply change them out. Engine is a different story.....but if that is your only reason, why wouldn’t you be thrilled to know the GT3R derived “fixed” motor is coming in the.2? And why bash Porsche so hard, when evidently you were happy with the 997.2 turbo? (Which seems quite heavy when thinking of running a street car on the track as much as you do). You could easily get a new turbo S.
