Default Event filled week with my GT3

Some of you may recall that my GT3 went into limp mode at the track and I had to have two cylinder injectors replaced. The car was out of commission for several weeks because of that. To start the year off right after such a traumatic event, I decided to send the car off to Detailed Designs Auto Spa for a facelift. Mine was the Rhodium Silver that JC mentioned was getting the stealth wrap. I can’t say enough good things about Detailed Designs. There are very few service businesses these days that manage to exceed my expectations and they are now on the very short list. JC is a total perfectionist who does amazing work, as you’ve probably seen on a number of other posts. Pictures to follow.

After the new wrap, I took the car home and knocked off a few other items I’d been meaning to tend to. After changing the oil, I swapped exhausts. I replaced my CSR bypass with the TPC side muffler deletes. Mostly, I want to save the weight and get the heat off my rear tires on the track. I’m really happy with the change, so I’ll be selling my CSR. Those that have heard it know how awesome it sounds. Thanks to Matt (money2536) for doing such a great video on removing the rear bumper. Not sure I would have tackled it without such guidance. As Matt noted, it is actually quite easy. Finally, I installed my OEM wheels, which I had refinished while the car was in the shop. I changed them from the graphite, to hyper silver (not OEM) and then had Detailed Designs nano-coat them. Really happy with the result. I also put Pilot Super Sports on so I could drive the car in colder temps and use them as my wet weather track tire. I’ll be keeping the Trofeo’s or Cup2s on my OZ racing wheels.

After all this, I felt like I had a new car. In great spirits, my wife and I went to the Porsche dealer to buy her a Macan GTS, which we plan to pick up this summer on vacation. Curious what kind of discount folks are getting for euro delivery. Their opening offer is no discount, since they have to pay the delivery fees. I’m going to shop around to see what I can find. Saw a GT3 buddy and got to show him the car, which is much, much better in person than in any photos I can post. He thought it was great.

Finally, the one negative in this long post. We’re cruising home from the dealer in the GT3 and some absolute idiot missed his exit and tried to correct that at the last minute. He came flying across the lanes at full speed and cut me off. There were cars all around, and I had a to swerve a bit and hit my brakes really hard, only to miss him by less than an inch (literally!). He cut across two more lanes after that and never looked back. Amazing he didn't kill anyone. The only silver lining is I told my wife we would have been in a terrible accident if it wasn’t for all my track days and brake modifications. Happy to be home in one piece.

Here are some photos. He tinted some of the front reflectors. Not sure if I'm going to keep that look, since I feel like it needs tinted headlights to work. Thoughts? The lighting was variable, so I took some outside and inside shots. Rhodium really changes with the light. I took some close ups to show off some tougher areas.

Nice change up Rich. Looks great. I like the tinted side markers, but it may be too dark of a tint.

I think it looks incredible. Will be interested to see how the wrap holds up on the track...especially the way you drive.

I'm not sure the tinted side markers look right without a similar look for the headlights. Maybe in person it's not as noticeable?

Glad to hear your reflexes saved you on the drive home. Never told you about our trip home from our Road Atlanta weekend. We had torrential rain on the way back to Charlotte. A guy in a pick up two lanes over started to lose it and ended up spinning on I-85 and looked like he was going to come across multiple lanes. We dodged that one with some quick reflexes but testing my track experience that way is no fun.

Gorgeous! I love the stealth wrap. I know what you mean...pictures just don't do it justice!

As for the tinted turn sigs and reflectors... I say keep em! Though, I am a bit biased! Lol
