Funny you ask that. You know they will sell them all at their asking price.

So, if they add all these exotic materials I am sure they will pass it on to us and we will swallow it like a swig of Scotch

I've been trying to dig a little about the cup edition but it's been very quiet. I bet C.J knows. lol.

But it would make sense to make the R and then use the 4.0l engine in the 991.2gt3.

Would make a lot of sense to me to send the 991.1rs of with a chabang cup edition before 991.2rs goes turbo.

That's one of the reasons I think they will keep making 991.1rs as 2017 model. Then you could show the "cup edition" at Geneva 2017 together with the new 991.2gt3.

Or maybe this is just wishful thinking on my part.

Except that if this article is to be believed the new TT is already faster than the GT3RS. A watered down RS engine and a few RS tweaks in a .2 GT3 won't even make it as fast as an RS, much less the TT.

Just 15% of 911s were manual. Wow. Death by market.

Okay, I'm taking bets..........

My bet is that the 2016 R is last NA Porches ever made

GT cars are meant for winning at the track, without turbo's or electric they will not win in todays world. PERIOD!

Not to bring up an old thread of mine but those inlets on the RS weren't only used for Ram Air like they are on the current production car. They've tested a turbo in the RS body (i.e. they were used for intercoolers). I don't have anyone to be afraid of at Porsche like CJ so I'll come right out and say it.

100% believe that!

Again, I think Porsche will use the current .1 RS body and slap some turbo's on it for the .2, it only makes sense. They are so busy getting the factory and engine department ramped up building all the new turbo engines I just don't see how or why they would put a already maxed out 4.0 NA in .2 RS, which again, is suppose to be "fastest most extreme" track car Porsche makes.

You know if they did that they couldn't sell BOTH a 991.2 GT3/RS and 991.2GT2/RS.

It's Porsche, they do crazy stuff. People thought that they would never put turbo engine in a 911 that is not called a "turbo".

I have no idea if they will have both, .2 gt3/rs and gt2/rs (most likely) but I just don't see Porsche letting the new turbo S be faster around the ring than their GT cars. The only way to compete with that is turbos

I have assumed from APs comments in California last year that the .2 GT3 and RS wouldn't be that different from the engines in the .1 models.

However, I agree with the sentiment described in that article that the GT/motor sports division can't be happy about the turbo beating their GT cars.

Who knows, Porsche might actually give us a 4.0 engine for the GT3 and a 4.2 for the RS as a final send-off of their best NA GT cars, before they go all turbo for the 992 GT cars.

This is why I have deposits down for both the .2 GT3 and the .2 RS.
