The measure of time defines the achievement,it's how you get there that makes it rewarding.

Very true - we're fairly close to being able to buy a self-driving car that can lap the Ring by itself in under 8 minutes. I assure you that it won't be as much fun as the slow 8:45 that I posted on my first trip there...

R for sure it seems, but that article really doesn't shed much light than repeating what was said by AP last summer. Geneva will be unveiling the 911R, probably not the next GT cars. That would probably happen 2017 or 2018.

Right, but the big question a lot of us have is will there be a manual option in the next GT3

Quote from article
"Recall that both the GT3 and the GT3 RS are PDK-only, although Porsche has decided that the next-generation GT3 should give customers the option of shifting for themselves."

Not to indulge in logomachy, but the PDK does allow you to shift for yourself.

What if they make some of the gt-line the "enthusiast" line.. Something which stands outside of the inexorable progression of speed and power. Cars which appeal the NA purists, the manual-lovers,

GT# - racers with wings, PDK, max track ready: priced within current power hierarchy.
GTletter - enthusiast line with manual option, NA engines, interesting interior finishes: priced at whatever nostalgia market will bear, which is to say... Almost infinite

If they're going to do this, might be better to just buy Singer.

Yes, same thing was stated by AP last summer. The key word is "should". A lot has changed since AP made those remarks. Remember he was also the one that stated flappy paddles are for grandmas, then as head of the GT program he releases the next two GT cars with flappy paddles only. Until officieal word is released it is all speculation.

At 1:30 he states they did a "back to back comparison". Perhaps this is what you are referring to?

I think we are in good hands even if they decide to put a 4cyl turbo engine in the next RS.

no way the next gt3 has manual - gt3 has to have low lap times to compete with f488 m650s etc etc

the 991r split off is meant to please purists who want involvement-mobiles that are noticeably slower than the fast robotshifter-mobiles...let's just hope they make more rather than less of them

would be very cool if they split off more vehicles on the other branch of the tree... am quite sure their product planning hierarchy have been hotly debating...
