Who are you asking? DerStig?

I recall him being quite contentious on some of the BMW forums.

Excuse me if I'm off base with that recollection.

I'm sorry I wasn't clear yes DerStig. He was hated by the Corvette crowd and portrait as a Porsche and BMW lover and now he comes here to try to start something.

I asked my dealer regarding warranty coverage if I tracked my GT3; he wasn't sure (this was a year ago) but contacted PCNA and was told that the warranty would be honored if the car was tracked. It was suggested that I have a Porsche dealer service the car.

I did have a radiator fail on the track (actually in the parking lot after coming off the track) and it was replaced under warranty by Porsche.

Bringing back life to this thread. It appears a German GT3 owner was denied his engine top-end repair because he happened to have the CEL come on while on track, and he told the dealer. Now, PAG drawing a line in the sand perhaps? PCNA may be different than what PAG does for ROW cars. Not sure. NMM991---what dealer did you talk to?
Also, if one were to get a CEL while on track....what keeps you from driving it home, then reporting it to Porsche then? Some have been able to clear the CeL by cycling the ignition. I assume you don't need to unhook the battery to clear a CEL. Even so, are they stored in the ECU anyway?

Word to the wise...maybe the 991 GT3/RS do not have a track warranty!!!?!??!?!?!? If that is the case, you will see less of them on track. I'll go buy a cheap Corvette to track I guess.

UPDATED: PAG changed it's mind, after receiving an e-mail from him. Repairs will be covered. What do you suppose this means for the future?

Hard to say really. The person in question spent a lot of money with Porsche over the past year or so, and that has to be considered. They also did the repairs before asking for his approval. And it took one email to get the initial decision reversed.

So this one really can't be considered a precedence-setting case, IMO.

Glad to see how "bulletproof" is the warranty from Porsche!

As of now, we can only confirm that the 2014 models had the note regarding track warranty. The note apparently was removed from the 2015/16 race circuit addendum. Very interesting especially since those 2014 warranties were also extended to 100K.
