Did you ever drive a GT3 before purchasing?
I assume (maybe wrongfully so) that most GT3 owners have owned other Porsches before ending up with a GT3. I'm curious as to how many here purchased a GT3 (or RS) without ever having driven one.

I had driven the previous generation GT3 at the Porsche Driving School, but I bought both the 991 GT3 and 991 RS before any were available to test drive. If you have the means going to the Porsche school in AL is well worth it if simply to try out the 991 GT3 before hand, I had one of the first orders so no go for me!

I also had one of the first US deliveries (January 2014) so no cars were available to test drive before ordering in July 2013. It was an act of faith....rewarded.

I've previously owned a C4S. Last week I droped in my local dealership to add me to the list for a GT4. He mentioned to me that there was a customer trading in his GT3 for a RS and will be dropping soon. I gave it a day before calling him back and giving him my deposit. There were no GT3's in the lot to test drive. I just picked it up yesterday and just love how it looks and drives.

Never owned or even driven a P car beforehand. Was at a bike/car track day (with my bike) and got a ride in 2010 GT3 and thought "what the heck is this?" A month later same thing and got a ride in early 991 GT3 and thought "wtf!!" 6-7 months later I took delivery of my first ever Porsche. To be honest I don't think I'd want or consider another variant of the 911 after driving a GT? Maybe a Targa?

My first drive in a Porsche GT car was as I departed he delivery center at the Zuffenhausen factory. In fairness, I'd owned an '00 996 Cup, the first drive of which was in the rain at MotorSport Ranch after having bought and transported if from New Mexico.

No previous Porsche and no test drive for me. Bought on reputation and the fact that I was able to grab an MSRP allocation without previously have purchased from the dealership.

Toiled over pristine 997 GT3 and 991 GT3. Got a 15 minute drive in a used 997 and had to decide from there since there wasn't a new 991 to drive in the state! Knowing what I know now I would have not toiled over it. Took a chance on the 991 and never looked back!

I drove a GT3 at a Vegas track experience day and had to have it afterwards. Tracked an allocation down within a week after. First Porsche since my 1987 951.

I drove three of them and a few of the previous generations too, but I'm late to the game. Mine arrives just this month.
To the OP's question, there isn't a doubt in my mind that the 991 GT3 had more conquest sales than any GT product in the past. For many, it was their first Porsche. Many non-Porsche enthusiasts ended up in a 991 GT3 (though they likely became Porsche enthusiasts as a result).
