I have driven many Porsche's over the years and had an RS 60 for about 3 years.

I had driven a 997 GT3 but would not have owned one due to harshness and the fact that most of my time is spent on mountain roads. Had driven the 991 and thought the car was excellent but too Acura like. I just seemed to be to plain driving unless pushed so felt the GT3 would be about right, but bought it without ever a test drive or ride.

Boy, am I glad I did. Car is just about perfect for my uses. Haven't been to track yet but can experience much of the performance below 70 on the correct roads.

No test drive before I purchased 997.2 GT3 nor the latest 991.1 GT3 I've purchased. No regrets. The reputation from owners and reviews I've read were spot on. Love it!!

Never driven GT3. Only GTS. Never owned a Porsche. I intend to purchase without test driving. Most of the cars I purchase are special order so I have purchased many without test drives.

I drove 997.1 and did not like it enough to want one, and then drove 991C2S and thought that if they bring some of those improvements (better front end grip, less front-back weight transfer, more mid-engine feel, NOT the electric steering) to GT3, it will be a great car. So I put a deposit on it. I ended up being right - the GT3 is close to perfect for my taste. I agree that it might be less of a 911-style feel, but I wanted something with more typical handling, like Cayman, anyway, so I see it as a benefit.

Purchased Cayman R, 991 GT3 and 991 GT3 RS without test drives. I did test drive my first Porsche, a 2009 Boxster.

Had a 997.2 GT3 but never even saw a new 991 GT3 or driven any 991 911 before I ordered mine.

I remember that post. You really took a lot of heat for it but your opinion is valid. Not an exciting car on the street below 5000 rpm.

Had a 997.2 GT3 and was offered a 991 allocation. Traded the the 997.2 and waited on the 991 without driving one. No regrets. Plus I no longer have to deal with that pesky thing on the console.

I'm more curious about those that did test drive one, and decided not to buy a GT3.

I worked for Porsche out of college 05-08..w/ a hiatus touring in 2007 as a tour mgr/acct./merch guy. I traded for a 996 GT3 and got to take it to a PCA event for the local chapter. Trying to build goodwill etc.. anyway wow! 3rd to 4th shift was the best shift of my life. I haven't had anything that was as alive - I realized the GT3 or RS would be a good switch at the end of summer and scored a car from my old store in early OCT.. They remembered me w/ a allocation btw another customer or 2..YAY! as I was at a point with my 997TT either sell it or take it to 80k miles.. I thought it would be a good exit if I sold it now /entry point into the next 911 & get rid of the R8 as well towards the GT3 ..netting minus 1 car.

Haven't driven a new 991 or anything GT3 except the 1 day 10yrs ago.

I think it'll be ok .. got to build it to my spec. Having worked for Porsche the value is defiantly in the base car. I kept the options small to $146k. I actually thought that was a decent build until I see all these other crazy builds with 4k headlights. rofl.. damn gotta love ppl lamenting over how much more to give Porsche. never fails.

Did not drive a GT3 until the day I picked it up from the dealer. Owned a 997.2 S model prior to buying the GT3.

Just picked up my GT3 yesterday with no prior test drive and I am extremely happy coming a 996 GT2. Very different cars with different personalities. Both put huge smiles on my face and raise the hairs on me neck which is always the goal.
