I know the feeling of slicks in bucketing rain can be very scary stuff ,,,was caught out some years ago in a torrential down poor in the opening stages of a race at Sydney motor sport park ...I was driving an open wheeler and the combination of the slick tires and the ultralight weight made it diabolical getting the car back to pit lane ,,The combination of the large volume of water on track and the cars light weight made it feel like it was floating on the water ,I was down to almost walking pace in first gear and watched many of my fellow competitors sliding off at relatively low speeds during the frantic scramble to get in the pits for wets,,fortunately they red flagged the race due to the number of cars that needed to be recovered from around the circuit ...open wheelers in the rain are really not fun to drive ...
^It is almost comical how slow you must drive.
I made it back slowly - at the same time I was passed by cars driving as they had wets on - which they most likely had. It messes with your brain cause you want to go faster.
Friend in Cup Porsche who touched the barriers in the video told me he drove 67 kph in Fuchsröhre where he was supposed to do max 60 kph because of a Code60.
He couldn't make the car go slower. Scary.
