Default Wheel Tire Insurance

I know we all have been in the wagon on this one some on, and some off. Picked up a nail, and left rear when deal flat had it plugged to get home. Took the car to the dealer after making an appointment replaced tire no questions no nothing. I paid about 1200.00 for the insurance good for 60 months. Tire cost and repair all in 629.55 including the tire cost 550.00 rear Michelin. First time I have ever purchased and it took one year to use not bad.

I used to take it on my cars but never used it. A few years ago I picked up a CLS550 with 19" AMG rims. They wanted $2100 on my 42 month lease. I didn't take the insurance and we had some rough winters with lots of potholes while I had the car. Ended up replacing 13 tires and fixed the rims 7 times while I had the car. First and last time I won't take the wheel and tire package. FWIW, I think the Merc rims are pretty soft. I've had no issues with my Porsches and Audis in terms of rims bending.

A cautionary note. I purchase the wheel/tire insurance for $1700 when I purchased my GT3. I spun off a country road and slightly bent two wheels and they won't replace my wheels, because the defect isn't obvious, only noticeable at speeds greater than 75mph, at which point there is noticeable shaking in my car.

Very angry. I felt I spent $1700 on nothing.

I'm satisfied with the tire replacement honestly. I'm one week my M5 took a nail, and the GT3 and now the M4. Only insured the GT3

Yeah, its my understanding they only replace them if they are leaking air.

I used mine to have a rear MPSC2 replaced last week, it turns out it didn't cover the tire disposal and some other thing, and not the full price of the tire, but my SA worked it out so that I only had to pay 7 bucks.

That's completely unacceptable.

What does the fine print say, if anything?

A complete waste of money unless you drive on big city POS roads in traffic and don't pay attention.

On my R8 I slightly bent a rim and only noticed it would cause a vibration over 85. They said they wouldn't be able to diagnose it because they couldn't road test it. Somehow they fixed it and it was covered.
