Gosh if it was really only $20.....we can dream I guess because it won't be too many more years and it'll be on our dime.

This is madness! I hope Porsche rev's this thing eventually with a permanent fix.

My buddy's GT3 just had his car stop starting (engine would die after a second) earlier this week. Turned out to be a bad thermostat. Had to be towed to the dealer.

I had mine replaced twice. Both times it got stuck in the "open" position so with regular driving, coolant and oil temps hovered around 140-150 F on the highway but worked just fine on track.

Mine was replaced twice as well. 1st time around 2200 miles and second around 13000 miles, although there was indication it started to act up again much earlier and about 2000 miles before the second replacement when occasionally the car would not heat up properly, which means the thermostat started to stick open occasionally and I kept a watch on it and continued to drive the car normally, and when it started doing it again, I had the dealership replace it. So I would say the current design probably is good for 8,000 to 11,000 miles at best and hopefully they come up with an updated design to make it more reliable. At this point I am treating it as a wear item, that I need to replace every 8000 miles or so. Mark

My experience similar to Mark. Second time it happened I just lived with it occasionally happening for a few thousand km as it want convenient for me to loose the car for a few days at dealer. The good news is stuck open won't overheat the engine. The car stats to run s bit rough at cold idle. I even had it stall after start up. I ran a few track days with it in this state but no issues as engine gets hot enough real quick. Once replaced car ran smoother. I agree it's s wear item good for up to 10,000 km in my experience. As long as they don't start charging for the work I'm happy tho agree it's a poor design...
