Great looking car, I think they should have left the bottom plastic sill black. Body color looks a little off with the front and rear still being black plastic.

That being said I will happily make room in my garage for it!

I totally agree. That's why I ordered my PTS 911 R without the painted side skirt option.

Mine is coming with painted skirts, because I had about 90mins to decide spec after getting a late allocation. I was in New Zealand, it was the middle of the night, and I ticked that option thinking I'd come back to it to decide. Forgot... It doesn't show on configurator image. I went back to bed, and spec was locked when I woke up!

I actually quite like the look of it (white car), but probably wouldn't have spent the money if I'd noticed.

No big deal - when I was first given the allocation I didn't know the spec and was told it might not be changeable. Was mentally prepared for comfort seats...

You should give exactly zero ****s about that. Sleep soundly knowing you're getting an R -- nothing else matters.

Well, maybe SMFW matters

I say again, many for whom I have the greatest respect say it is the finest Porsche since the 964RS/3.8 RS. And it is a Porsche, not an after market car, not a resto-mod, not anything but a true Porsche.

Does anyone know if there is an order to production? Initially it sounded like SMFW cars were being made later but they've already started arriving. Mine's a February delivery which seems super late but my chassis number is also high. Likely unrelated but curious.

Took delivery of mine this past weekend, and it has the SMFW & high chassis number.

I agree with Mr. Linton. At first I was very skeptical regarding the car. I don't like numbered offerings. And since I had not been allocated one at the time I was really hoping it wasn't "that" good. But it is. After driving the car in the hills surrounding Stuttgart I wrote that the car was the offspring of a 997.2 RS and a '74 3.0 RS. Only it's faster and more useable. It reminds me of a canyon blasting sport bike. It's a masterpiece. I'm certain Porsche will use the R DNA in other upcoming models so all can enjoy.

Thanks buddy. I'm super stoked even thought it's another 6 months away in the dead of a Canadian winter.

I am aware of cars numbered from 014 to 897 being delivered already. Production is definitely not sequential. For many customers, the car is numbered the same as their 918 (this appears to be the case for many if not most 918 customers). PTS cars are likely to be built later, although at least one has been built for a US client this month (probably delivery in a month or two).

You're right, SMFW was initially supposed to be a later (Sept+?) build option, however, amongst the earliest builds from July there are many (2/3 roughly) that already have been delivered with it.

Again congratulations!!!
