I'm using studs on my 997 GT3 and I'm truly happy with them.

I'm considering studs for my 991 GT3RS as well but just realized that they might be made of stainless steel:

Is there a risc that stainless steel and aluminium reacts in a bad way?

The oem caliper bolts are not aluminum either.

I think the cup studs are made of steel, not stainless steel.

Maybe I'm overthinking it.

There will be a galvanic couple with either stud. Keep in mind these parts are not thin sheet metal. The location of the parts and conditions most of us drive in makes this an item I wouldn't worry about. The aluminum will be sacrificial to the studs. Putting Loctite on the threads will act somewhat as a barrier coating much in the way Honda coated the steel bolts on the NSX. The tapered section of the stud will not be in contact with the aluminum caliper which makes it pretty much a non issue provided you don't drive around on the salt covered streets of the MW and NE parts of the country in the winter.

Thanks for the tips! Note that the stud set comes with two small packages of Loctite 243 (part number 1330255).

1. Wire brush off the red lock-tight from the black studs . I did because i wasn't sure and neither was Ira how permanent or what it really was.
Use 243 blue lock-tight then you know you can remove if necessary.

2.Make sure you chase the black 12mm x 1.5 threads they were really rough .
The 85 mm st-stl threads went through the chaser like butter no resistance.
The 10mm threads were OK on both sets.

3. I would also run a 12x1.5 chaser into the alloy caliper mount before the install. You should be able to run the stud all the way in by hand without it getting caught.. carl
