There are people who DIY. Certainly doable.

But not for me. I can barely make instant hot chocolate without asking for assistance.
Lol!! Great thanks for the feedback.

Sorry, but you have to pull the PCM, I order to cable up the module. The navtv module sits inline with the harness from the car to the PCM. Pulling the PCM is easy, compared to doing the same in some other cars.

Of course you're right. Just shows what a doofus I am.

I think what I meant was the PCM does not have to be opened up. Or maybe I'm wrong there as well ...

You don't need to open the PCM, just pull it out and change some cables around. It's pretty easy to do the install but you do need to drill a hole in your bumper cover. The parking lines are there, not dynamic, and do not line up with the edges of the car. I don't think the camera is wide enough to cover the whole rear of the car, so I still use my side mirrors.

No biggie. If you get the later can bus module, then you don't need to open the PCM.

This was the most unnerving part of the DIY. At least for the NAVTV camera, it's a big a$$ hole.

I have the CRUX system and am happy with it (my local installer only uses this, so no NAVTV option)

It is plug'n'play also, it has the alignment lines but as with the NAVTV they are static.

automatically comes on when the car is put in Reverse or you can select it to come on by pressing the "car" then 'info" buttons on the PCM

I have the CRUX system. I disabled the lines. On rare occasions, the video gets out of sync and flips, but it's fine 95% of the time.

Only major complaint is that when the camera gets very hot (after I've been on track or have driven the car hard for a while), the image gets very blurry. It recovers once it cools down. Do you see that too?

My lines are aligned with engine cover. So fenders not included. Red static line at far rear helps for depth. 12-18 inches from bumper.

Really helps for backing into spots for shopping.

By 2018 all vehicles will have back up cameras by law. It's ridiculous you can't get one on a new GT3 now.
