Question on 2016 GT3 Pricing
I have worked with the same dealer for several years now, having purchased a number of Porsche's from them. So I implicitly trust them as I always felt they are fair. But I'm reading other threads herein that have me worried. I gave them a $5,000 deposit for an October build slot on a GT3, for which they would like me to pay $25,000 over sticker.
Can you give me a feel for whether this is in market, and if it is not, whether I'm really going to be able to find this car anywhere else at a lower price. I'm in the Dallas, TX area.

Your are getting taken advantage of.
2 questions you need to answer for yourself
First: Are you ok with being taken advantage of ?
Second : Is this added premium of 25k over MSRP an issue financialy for you ?
As far as sourcing a new GT3 this late in the game is very difficult. However there are numerous preloved GT3 on the market with more to follow as RS owners start taking delivery.

They are trying to rip you off. Please disclose the name of this dealer so everyone can avoid them.

I, unfortunately, have no real advice for you either (1) on the market pricing for a new 2016 GT3 or (2) whether you should go ahead and buy this car.
But I am curious as to what was agreed upon when you put down the deposit.
Was it just for an allocation of a GT3?
Was it for an allocation of a GT3 at MSRP?
If the former, you're sort of stuck.
If the latter I would go to the dealer's house and burn it down. And then use the smoldering ashes to light up your favorite Cuban. And then puff away in vengeful glee. Ok, kidding, but you get my idea.
Good luck.

IMV that is off market. I am ok with dealers charging over MSRP opportunistically but prior customers and local customers should get better treatment (i.e. @ MSRP). I got my early 2014 @ MSRP and could have gotten a 2016 @ MSRP from same dealer but passed as no PTS available. The 2014 car is the only car i have ever purchased from them but I am local.

People tend to overlook developing a good relationship with a dealer (preferably the GM).
I've been loyal to my dealer and the same has been reciprocated.

I am lucky enough to also have been given the opportunity to acquire a 16 GT3. I am here in Houston and will be paying MSRP. I refused to pay mark up and passed on a couple allocations prior with others. I remained patient with my local dealer and genuinely thought I was simply destined for the .2 or maybe a used Mac. It all boils down to what the car is worth to you. With RSs trickling in and the market beginning to gently soften, mark up over sticker just doesn't seem prudent. I am thankful my dealer sticks with the sticker!
Best of luck and enjoy your stable in good health!

Honestly, it's stories like these that give me pause about wanting to establish relationships with an dealers. However, I know there are good dealers out there and I'm hoping that the ones that I have deposits with for the .2 GT cars really do want to establish a relationship with me since I'll be trading in a car to buy a car. We'll see I guess...

First, I would not pay $25K over for a standard GT3. A PTS car that I was in love with, maybe a little bit over. An RS, probably. Consider a '14 or '15. Same car and you can find one at or below MSRP if you look hard. If you do a '14 just make sure that it doesn't have a branded title. Nothing wrong with it, but its not going to help future resale value.
Second, I don't think the dealer can keep your deposit. If I'm not mistaken you have three days to return a car you purchase for a full refund, so it doesn't seem logical that the dealer can keep your deposit if the car is not delivered.
Finally, as others have said, your dealer did not treat you as a valued customer. Hitting you for $25K over for a new car is pretty brutal. I'm more tolerant of "market pricing" for used cars because the market dictates the value, but everyone should have the opportunity to purchase a new vehicle for MSRP.
JMHO!

Really better off buying used than paying $25k over. Mine is going to my dealer any day now and has less than 2,000 miles. They'll CPO it and it'll probably about MSRP including installed radar detector and clear bra etc. It's not a unique situation at all - a bunch are getting traded at the moment.

Another data point for reference is Carbonbmw.... He paid $8500 over MSRP in the Chicago area and is currently looking to find a home for the allocation as he can no longer accept.

Folks I appreciate all the support and opinions, but I was hoping for some real data. A couple of you said you got it at MSRP. Anybody else that can weigh in with what they paid would be very helpful. What strikes me looking at used RS's on cars.com is that the pricing is very strong. Significant premium over sticker for cars that already have miles.
Thanks for helping!
