Yup, knowing PAG, the .2's will be loads of fun, and there will be more special 991.2's than 991.1's. Always happens. The 991 generation will end with a bang, just like the 997 did.

You think they'll do a limited numbered .2RS like they did with the 997 4.0? If the economy is good and the dollar is strong I'm fairly sure that PAG will product more .2 GT3s, GT4/RSs, and .2RSs for US buyers. I'm a driver and not a collector so I'm having mixed feelings not driving my 997 RS as much as I would normally.

What kind of bang is plausible? How did the 997 end?

New to the brand.

Thanks.

That wouldn't surprise me, but so many that everyone who wants one may be able to get two is harder for me to get my head around...especially since, judging from the BMW and other brand boards, there are many who want a GT4 who have not even bothered getting on a list out of discouragement. But I suppose anything is possible with PAG. 2016 GT3s and the 30 late-production 2015 PTS GT3s are proof enough, after how many times we were told 1GT3 production had ended.

I don't think its crazy. You can access much more of the cayman on the road and probably enjoy it more consequently. The GT3 is nearly impossible to take advantage of on most US roads and on tight stuff honestly its so "good" that its boring. The Gt4 is easily the "drivers" road car of the decade. For the track though Id still want the gt3 or RS though. But that's where the power and grip become more important than the hoon around factor.

This
plus GT3 less (and currently out of) production than GT4 units

I've only had my GT4 couple of days now and I agree. The GT3 motor really is a special beast especially combined with the PDKS.

Diving back to back 911s at the Porsche Sport Diving School, PDK/Manual, the PDK really woke the cars up. They seemed faster than the manuals even when the manuals were kept on boil.

If the GT4 had a PDKS or the manual combo with the GT3 motor, then it might be a different story. Until then, there's no way I'd give up my GT3 for the GT4.

My dream is to have a manual GT4 RS with the GT3 9A1 motor. Ah, the fun it would be!!

Edit: Don't get me wrong the GT4 is an amazing car so far, but when we're comparing some of the best cars on the planet you have to split some hairs. For now I'm not kicking either out of bed.

Default GT3 VS GT4

I own an 07 GT3. The driving experience is far superior to my previous 03 911 c4s Coupe, which has turbo suspension and had lots of extra giddiap from complete Fabspeed setup, including air intake.
Cayman S is very cool car also, I almost bought one, but its apples to oranges vs a 911.
The GT4 has a modified cerrara engine and some GT3 suspension parts, but its not anywhere close to a GT3 overall in total engine and suspension build. Read the spec sheets for both and compare.
From what Ive learned the GT3 and of course the RS model are the most valuable, albeit more expensive as well.
Good luck with your decision.

Let's not forget also the status that comes with having a 911 GT3. This car has been built on the legendary 911 platform that made Porsche who they are today as a company. The Cayman is nothing but a Boxster with a roof,it has no history with Porsche, other than it helped save the company years ago, along the Cayenne.
If you like to go to C&C meetings don't expect anyone to pay attention to your Cayman, while there will be a huge gathering around your GT3 and RS. That alone proves that you are the real baller in the Porsche family.
Also,if you run DE events, the 911 with PDK will gain you half a car length with every shift over the GT4,so you'll have no problem winning DE events and can tell all your friends about it. The slow Caymans will just have to watch you as you pass them again and again.
Then there's the price of admission, that completely differentiate real men with great toys, from little boys with parts bin specials.
I could go on,but why bother when we can all see the clear winner!

Status, shmatus.....I don't give a RA about status and I've never been to a C&C. A more iconic and beautiful shape, a 9K rpm purpose built engine rather than a tweaked Carrera mill, +90 HP, a cutting edge gearbox, the classic 5 instrument binnacle, etc. etc. That, and the fact that I've now had some seat time at speed in both, is why I prefer the GT3.

This isn't a put down of the GT4, it's a fabulous car. It's just that the GT3 is so good that the 4 suffers slightly in comparison, IMHO. No Kool-Aid, Nick....too much sugar, never touch the stuff!
