Default Alcantara steering (How to keep clean)

So I just had the car wrapped last night with Xpel (Love it) & had a 65 mile commute home. Was thinking about the steering wheel & how to keep it looking new. This is the first suede steering wheel. I really don't want to look like the Corvette guys with driving gloves...just kidding. Is there a way to keep these looking new.

I would like to know too. My current 3 has leather...my RS is spec'd with alcantara. I notice my current car makes my hands sweat

Rethinking my alantara spec'd wheel on the RS.

My post was simultaneously posted with yours. Are you saying soap and water, towel dry it will look close to new again ? How well does it hold up to wear in the longer run ?

The foaming upholstery cleaners can be good at lifting dirt out.
Also it wouldn't hurt to keep a pack of wipes in the car and wipe your hands every time you get in to drive.

Thanks...ordered some for my seats in both cars. Glad to hear it works well on the steering wheel.

within reasonable bounds of dirtiness, mild soap (woolite etc etc) and water will work fine, you may need to do multiple passes thats all

of course many specialized vendors will be happy to take your money and sell you an expensive specialized cleaner... if that makes you happy knock yourself out

alacantara cannot and will not be as durable and look 'new' as long as proper leather. but its lighter, so you get some unquantifiable amount of performance advantage in a performance car... that is PAG's justification of installing it in everything these days

Don't use lotions on your hands, and agree a with keeping wipes it will stay looking new.

+1.

Regular soap and water work well, but this is much better. Most of the time when people think Alcantar is worn, it's actually dirty and dirt make it look shiny, like it's worn. Clean it gently once in a while, and it will last reasonably long.

I have a lot of oil in my skin so I started wearing driving gloves for the first time in this car. I found I realy like the feel with this wheel.

I never knew I have sweaty hands until I bought this car.

Now I'm driving in gloves if I need to drive more than 2 km. No choice.

But like Sloopy, I also really like the feel with this wheel.
