The bar is made to snap in place with no play. I know it is tight but this is how you want it. My bar doesn't creak and makes no noise like other bars I have been around.
Received the Sub Bars today. Installation was a breeze. Easiest to install the sub belts with the seats out of the car. Especially true on passenger side with fire extinguisher. Everything works and fit as expected.
Looking forward to my next track event. No more fighting the car.
To install:
1) Raise both seats.
2) Remove key from ignition
3) Disconnect battery (10mm wrench)
4) Remove Torx screws from seat (2 front / 2 rear ) - use 6" extension on front to make job easier.
5) Remove connector under seat. You have to pull the slide lock to remove it.
6) Remove Seat from car.
7) Remove two 13mm bolts from sides of seat towards front.
8) The bars are not symmetrical - be sure to install the correct one.
9) slide the bar into place and place over the remaining nuts and align to holes where 13mm bolts were removed.
10) replace the 13 mm bolts.
11) Install the Sub Belts (much easier with seat out of car).
12) Reposition seat into car and reestablish electrical connection.
13) Tighten Torx bolts.
14) Repeat same on other side.
15) Reconnect battery.
Just one revision;
There is no need to disconnect the battery. Dealer says this is only required when actually working on the airbag system.
That's the first I've heard of that. Even my dealer asked me if I disconnected the battery and removed the key before pulling the seats.
I did disconnect the electrical connection to the seat, which has airbags. It's just a lot easier to do that than not disconnect only to find that some magic combination of steps throws the airbag fault.
