Yep, same friction disc as used on Cayman GT4 also.

Its just crazy how much overkill the GT4 brakes are!

Yeah, I think it was more cost effective for Porsche to use the existing hardware for the new GT4, but it ended up giving the GT4 better brakes (relative to power and weight) than any other model.

...possibly of any make, ever. I have not come up with a car that's as overbraked as the GT4, especially with PCCBs. It's to the point that the brakes will hurt outright performance, but benefit of longevity significantly. You could take those brakes to Le Mans...

I'm hoping these factors will reduce running costs at the track, even while "slumming it" with iron brakes.

Do you have this table for the PCCB?

Thanks for posting
C6 ZR1: Front 394x36; Rear: 380x34
C7 ZR1: Front 394x36 (same as C6), Rear: 390x32
F458: Front: 398x36; Rear: 360x32 (Same as Aston Martin DBS)

Our attention on weight tabulation is more focused on ZR1 CCM discs for their affordability on pricing due to the population of installation by GM (Both Corvette ZR1 and Camaro Z28 CCM are standard), however the size are more limited, which can only be made available with RB CCM brake kits.

Surface Transforms CCM-X discs are used as alternative & upgrade for the variety of their sizes including; stock replacement for 997/996 GT3, 991 GT3 comes with pccb, and Ferrari F360 CS/F430c & Scud.

Novice/intermediate
7-8 track day per year

My turbo s running on oem pads 3 track days 50% wear...however due to the extreme heat cycles on track I would recommend replacement as my last set were seriously cracked all round. (Should have taken pics as it really shocked me ) ..going for the pagids/racing fluid next time ..

Track weekend, Ceramic Rotor wear measurements taken before, and after @ 200 miles +/- laps at High Plains Raceway.

Thanks for posting.
Knowing that they can be resone for $1000 per cornets bega the questions; Will they last twice as long?
This is the First time im seriously consisering but there is just not much data like this thread!

Hoe many days dis you have prior to these 2 days?

Another variable; How hard do you drive?

Please dump as much info here as possible thanks for testing and sharing!

Exactly. There is NO data to back up the reliability (especially on-track) of re-manufactured carbon rotors, especially after repeated re-manufacturing over and over again. Personally, I wouldn't make any decisions on any of that...

How could some of your measurements be higher than new in the 4/21 column? Also after your track day the RR2 measurement also went up?

I noticed this also. And why is the wear limit 10 less in the RR corner than the other three?

Interesting stuff. Have a friend with C7Z. Rotors and pads are being replaced under warranty after 8-10 track days. Hoping he chimes in. No GM bashing please. Just for info.

Mlpor,
Thanks for sharing this.

What pads were you using? What was the brake pads wear after these 200 circuit miles?

Cheers!

I didn't take the measurements which I gather are done by the dealership with some kind of special tool, maybe involving a laser? I'll have to present these question to the tech when next I'm in. It costs @$300 (I think the dealership is billing a fixed @2 hours) to have the measurements done. Put together a list of good questions to ask, and I'll see what answers I can get.

As for TrackKar, "how hard were the disks driven?", hum. . . . well I wasn't being passed by anyone except that ONE GUY, . . . in our Black group. There's always that ONE GUY isn't there? FWIW, I'm pretty sure there were some low 2 minute, maybe even some sub 2 minute laps at High Plains (@2.5 miles, 15 turns) on Saturday - I need to get a data logger. Sunday OTOH was a very wet, and chilly day. I only ran the two AM sessions. It was chilly and wet enough that a lot of people were pulling out an leaving early, so RMRPCA consolidated the Orange and Black groups at lunch time to try to get everyone their track time, and then shut down early.

PiereTT - I put in a fresh set of Pagid RSC1 (? kind of Yellow) The Tech didn't list the OEM new depth, but as measured Tuesday 5 May, the tech's notes say "Pads: F - 12mm; & R - 11mm" Hopefully some one on this list can supply the original, unused pad thickness. They were supposed to record that data when the pads went in on the 21 of April before the event.

Last, but not least, don't know what everyone else thinks, but I found the car (&/or the car+ the tires, the OEM Cup2s) to be freakingly awesome in the wet.
