I drove a 75 VW Scirocco until I was 35 and out of training. If a 25 year old has 80K+ for a car,any car, he's either way ahead of the game or he'll be on the Govt dole for retirement. My cars are last on the financial priority list, not first. Different times, culture, parenting.

I'm 37 and bought my first gt3 almost 10 years ago, so I guess I'm lucky to still be alive. 😃😃😃
I was a much better driver 10 years ago. Because I drove a lot, and worked on it. With kids and a lot more work I have less time and therefor is slower. Experience makes up for a little bit. But nothing beats seat time at the track.
Just silly to put people in brackets because of age.....

The GT4 is a coup by Porsche for several reasons.
1-they open the brand new group of buyers that want serious trackable sports car under 90K, that has racing heritage and is a more special car than a corvette/Z28, etc.
2-by #1 they bring younger buyers to Porsche, (who couldn't afford a GT3 for 5-10 yrs), and later in life these same people buy other Porsches. I don't have the reference, but I've read that the average age of the first-time Porsche owner was 36 in 1995 and 45 in 2015
3-previous p-car buyers add a GT4 to their stable of PDK Porsches.
4-allows them to keep their hardcore track audience happy, while maintaining the PDK-S gearbox in the GT3/RS which significantly improves the GT3/RS performance against other halo sports cars with more HP than Porsche can wring out of their six cylinder models.

Wow, the condescension is strong in this one, even by RL standards.
Maybe PCA chapters need to start having adult run groups soon now that Porsche has made a kiddie track car?
I think at 43, I will be the oldest GT4 owner? Maybe I should get mine in blue after all... or at least Porsche should make me a plaque.

The GT4 looks to be a fantastic car. I'm not getting the GT4 because I need PDK due to a leg injury (still in my thirties, though), and I can afford a GT3.

I have positions on a new RS and a GT4, so my view may be a little more objective or unusual than someone that is locked into one of the two new cars. I am fortunate to be able to buy both cars and have already convinced my wife the GT4 is hers. (complete BS btw).
Anyway, I am inexplicably more enamored with the prospect of the GT4 than the RS and I have been thinking about why. I think the reason is that the RS embodies "be all you can be" as the zenith of Porsche GT car technology. Great. But, I believe the GT4 has enormous untapped potential. My conclusion is that the intrigue of the potential in the GT4 platform has me more excited than experiencing the best of what can be delivered, as embodied in the RS. I know there is more there, even if it isn't clearly visible.
The RS is the hot, half naked girl already in your bedroom. The GT4 is the sexy librarian that you finally convinced to have a drink with you and haven't quite figured out just yet. That's the best analogy I can come up with.
Go ahead, crucify me. I know what forum I just posted this on.

Sorry, that wasn't a response to your post at all. It was a response to the OP's characterization of GT4 buyers as young kids who don't know how to drive properly and hope to grow up to afford a real GT3 one day!
There is an underlying assumption there that people buy the most expensive track toys they can afford. Therefore GT4 owners must necessarily be younger and less established than GT3 owners. That would be like saying all GT3 owners chose the GT3 only because they couldn't afford a Mclaren or Ferrari. (What about the GT3 owners who actually do keep their Ferraris safely in the garage. Or the M3 owner I know who keeps his F12 safely in the garage and off track)
Or that someone who enjoys an M235 as his/her track toy chose that because he couldn't swing a Porsche.
That's a rather silly assumption to make, isn't it? We all know some very wealthy people ((even some very old wealthy people
) who wouldn't even spend $80k on a 3rd or 4th car for the track. Or they may even prefer car A to car B, even if A happens to be less expensive. Who knew?
