I pitched really well for 16 years. I was on RL in 2001 and ended up with my 993 in 2003, 993TT in 2006 (sold 993 c2s). Fall 2007 bought GT3, did euro delivery. Sold GT3 while was on boat back for msrp and scored a gt3rs at sticker jan 08. Tracked the hell out of it. Sold 993TT in 2009 and ended up with CGT still under warranty. Kept pitching better and getting performance based raises- independent of global economy etc.

Thanks to RL i have only "lost" money on a handful of cars ever. I generally only bought used cars, although this past 18 months I've bought a few new ones (GT4, Boxster spyder, 675LT, P1, Viper).

I guess the pitching was a big part and no more ramen, great story.

Well for the 993 I could live cheap but by the time it came to pony up for a new 997GT3 there is no way to hide 125k in couch cushions as a 27 year old.

My first Porsche was a 2014 911 Turbo S, just started being able to afford these cars and wanted an quickest accelerating car at that time. Got bored and sold after 6 months, and started getting GT cars and track them a lot. Enjoy all the GT cars, plus happy to drive these cars without losing money or even making some money.

Love it. For the avoidance of doubt, does "pitched" means you were in sales or baseball? There are a lot of Americans on here

1986 944 Turbo, 22 years old in 1993.

Porsche fan since single digit years, knew the used market and what I could do with a new job out of college. Friends were off buying whatever (Honda Civics, used POS') and I buy the $13,500 951. "You bought a Porsche?" "Yeah, and it costs less than your Accord". I learned how to do my own maintenance REALLY QUICK to afford it after the initial purchase...

On track with it at Bridgehampton 1994 (who knows and drove the Bridge!?) and this is when it all went downhill... (Photo taken by then girlfriend, now wife, who drove the 951, also, at my first DE. She's been a keeper ever since, doing all DEs with me until the kids were born and I went racing, and has more posts on Rennlist than I do...)

2015 GT3, 48.
First one I drove was a 944T in 1987. Never thought I'd own one. Now thinking about more.

Curious, what did you drive back home or were you even old enough?

First = 1993 993 C4 in Midnight Blue with RS kit bought in late 90's. Lovely car to drive, got me hooked on 911's.

My first was a 2003 911 targa. To be honest I hated it. Traded it in for a 2011 335xi bmw , a car I love but there is a Porsche sweet spot I craved and eventually talked myself into a 2011 Boxster Sypder. The Spyder is truly excellent, everything I was looking for in a Porsche. In 3 years I'll add a Cayman R (don't tell my wife about my secret plan)
