'Lava Orange' apparently not exclusive to the RS...even on it's first year!

Lava orange is not PTS on the 991.2 . It's a 'special' color, ~$3k option, anyone can order it, no special approval or PTS process needed. Same as Miami Blue and Caramine Red.

Correct. This is an old thread and it was not initially clear how PAG was going to handle 'Lava Orange' on the
non-RS. In fact, 'Lava Orange' became a special color on the MY2016 .1 991...so it's not just a .2 991 offering!

I have already in person seen a 911 GTS cab at Woodhouse in Omaha in Lava Orange. If I remember correctly, it wasn't even a PTS order, just an extra cost premium color. It looked great BTW.

Yes, 'Lava Orange' is not PTS on SOME of the MY2016/2017 991 models. Like I previously said, in that context it's a 'Special Color'.
And these 'Special Colors' presently costs an additional $3,141.

No offense to anyone with a LO RS, but I wouldn't buy one even at MSRP as I'd never own a car in that color.

Here is an example that just arrived at the dealership I saw in Lava Orange on a Turbo-S. This Turbo-S is fully optioned and MSRP as I recall is around $240K. Porsche has deployed these to dealers which are "Fully Optioned" and has "one-of" configuration.

Drive safe,

Good luck with that $240k Turbo...that thing will be worth about half that in 3 years.

De gustibus non est disputandum- "In matters of taste, there can be no disputes"

Lava orange actually looks really good depending on the lighting. This is actually true of many of the less common paint colors (even the dreaded lime gold)- lighting is everything. Having said that, our preferences for colors are probably even partially in our DNA and certainly developed to a large part in the childhood years.

Really...I had not idea. Here is a picture of me as a kid. Perhaps
it explains something about my current interests in PTS! Who'd'a'
thunk it?

+1,000 Same Difference why people pay premium on "Low Supply, High Demand" cars. We buy what pleases us. I buy cars based on my taste, preference, and liking, not because I am thinking who would buy it after me.

LO on the RS looks great to me, still prefer it over UV if I had to choose and know I'm likely alone on this. I saw LO on a Carrera and it was too much however. Being the launch color for the RS it will always hold a somewhat special position in the future.
