I agree manual mode would be a way to break in if you closely watch your rpm. In auto mode I would definitely avoid regular mode as it kicks down too easily and unpredictably causing a loud engine roar. I had barely driven out of the dealership when the car unexpectedly roared to 7000 rpms in normal mode. Auto mode in sport is not too harsh and more predictable so long as you don't floor it you won't reach high rpms.

Manual mode is best for break in. Book is clear as to what Porsche indicates. When it comes to opinion I will tell you what the market is going to do next year!

Agree. I never have a problem not paying attention when driving a stick; I don't lug or over-rev due to inattention. If one pays attention to shift points in manual mode with PDK-S just as one would with a stick, manual mode for break-in should be ideal.

Default Revs Management

My point is if your are on the gas, this engine coupled with the gear ratios builds revs unbelievably fast - it is manic. The climb from 3,000 to 4,200 is less than the blink of an eye. yes best managed in manual mode with a very well tethered throttle foot.

I did 500 miles on mine at no more than 5k, running through the gears, different types of driving. Once it hit 500 miles:

and she heads to her first DE on Saturday.

Thanks for the input all...
Consensus: use common sense and give the car time to get to know it's parts...
Pics coming!

LOL! Agree that 4200rpm is impossible to adhere to.

Step 1 - Fill Gas Tank
Step 2 - Start Car - allow to WARM UP COMPLETELY
Step 3 - Manual Mode - up to 5K in short bursts until tank is empty
Step 4 - See step 1
Step 5 - See step 2
Step 6 - See step 3 allowing for short bursts to 7K until tank is empty
Step 7 - See step 1, then ALWAYS see step 2
Step 8 - FLOG IT in PDK-S and ENJOY THE RIDE!

You are now broken in.

635 miles and so far not once over 4200 RPM. But it hasn't been easy... Sharkwerks exhaust gets delivered tomorrow too. Ugh.

I wish I could drive full stop, even if at 3-4k rpm.... Snow is making me suicidal. I might just sit in the car and listen to the supposed crap stereo as I haven't even done that yet.
