OK - you guys suggesting that someone headed toward an RS consider a Cup - where is the best place to look for Cups for sale?
In three years I have bought a 997 GTS and a 991 GT3 and am # 2 in a list for a 991 RS, and now I'm considering a Cup. Damn, this 911 habit has a slippery slope....

FWIW, those in the know claim the RS will be marginally faster than the 991GT3 and only in the hands of an expert driver. This is coming from someone VERY familiar with the 991GT3RS.
BTW, I thought all three drivers in the video were excellent.

This does actually bring up an interesting theoretical/bench racing discussion:
If Ben and I can clean up our lines, readjust our braking zones, and get a better feel for the car, I don't think that 1:55 is too unreasonable given that the theoretical best was 1:56.6
If we say 1:55 on stock mpsc2 tires is doable, then perhaps it could match a 1:51 cup car time on equivalent tires? Amazing when you consider it is a street car!!

I think if E46 M3 can produce 1:57 on slicks you should be more than capable to get to 1:55 on stock car.
I am going on the 16th and 23th - both 3 miles tracks. Will be lucky if I get under 2m.

I too am curious, what does a 997.1 or 997.2 cup weigh? For that matter, what does the 991 GT America weigh?
I've looked around a bit in the 997 GT3/RS forums for weight reduction. Seems most keep them with street interior and when they are ready for weight reduction the car goes dedicated track with stripped interior.
Halltech and Katech, two of the Corvetteforum vendor sponsors, had a competition a couple of years back. Each started with a C6Z06 and they developed all sorts of lightweight components with the goal of keeping the interior appearance stock. Components included carbonfiber body parts, extensive use of titanium, and carbon ceramic brakes.
I'm not a fan of the carbon ceramics. Been there, done that. However, I'd like to see some ideas on dropping 100 - 200 lbs from my 991 GT3.
Looks like the sharkwerks pipe drops a few pounds, the cup exhaust drops more, but I probably can't deal with the full cup exhaust around town![Mad](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif)

I think 1:55 is possible in MY hands. It's definitely capable of less than 1:55 with a better driver. I'm always humbled by the lap times really good drivers get with s2000s and e46 m3s.

Also, you guys probably had optimal conditions for fast laps- you could easily be down 1.5 seconds later in the summer with 90 degree plus temps so don't get too frustrated and pick your moments to break the time.
So cool watching the video, getting me pumped up for the upcoming racing season! On another note, how did you remove the cables holding down the cushion on the passenger seat?
