I believe it is the gearbox, and specifically the straight cut gears.

My Cup has a sequntial gearbox. It shifts like a motorcycle or a farm tractor. Up shifts are foot to the floor w/no clutching. Just pull hard on the lever. Down shifts require clutching. My car has an auto-blipper for rev-matching the downshifts.

The gearbox has straight cut dog teeth. No syncros. The noise from the box is louder than the engine.

It takes quite a bit of practice to master. It's harder than it looks.

Yes, the Cup is on slicks. It IS a race car!

Nice! Thanks for sharing, Lar! It didn't look like I put up any sort of fight at all! LOL. A few laps earlier, I was punted off the track at the exit of turn 9, so I was still jittery. Regardless, I have zero chance of staying ahead of you.

I ran 1:58.5 and Ben ran 1:57.7 Theoretical best was 1:56.6

Awesome video! Great driving. Thank you for sharing. I think the 991 GT3 on hoosiers with a hot shoe will be a contender... but at the end of the day.. the best seat in the house is in that CUP!

Running stock tires that's fast. If R comps like Hoosier r6/7 probably 2 secs faster and if slicks another 2 secs faster. So any of you 991 gt3 guys tried paddle shift each gear vs full auto for comparison? Mike

This does actually bring up an interesting theoretical/bench racing discussion:

If Ben and I can clean up our lines, readjust our braking zones, and get a better feel for the car, I don't think that 1:55 is too unreasonable given that the theoretical best was 1:56.6

If we say 1:55 on stock mpsc2 tires is doable, then perhaps it could match a 1:51 cup car time on equivalent tires? Amazing when you consider it is a street car!!

We used full auto all day. I don't see a reason to use manual unless I want to go slower. LOL. Seriously, auto is perfect.

Both are box stock, including the tires. And both are very well driven, I must add! Enjoy.

You are a sick bastid ! Nice driving....

I just had artic delivery of my 991.3 today with snow coming in. Flatbed'd. Hit 10 mph in my driveway before it was tucked away in the garage...lol
I'm dying to really drive the car....a few months away with my upstate ny weather.

This is awesome. I am prepared to walk if not offered the RS at MSRP. If I do, I'll get a 2011-2013 Cup instead. It'll be a brand new experience and certainly the sound is to die for.
