Default Wind Buffeting

As many of you have discovered, Porsche's moving of the R/L side view mirrors to the door has created an aero dynamic design problem for the 991 GT3. At speed, with both windows down, there is a significant wind buffeting issue. AWE sells a CF wind foiler that attaches to where the old mirrors use to attach for $160 dollars. Another alternative I found that works up to 135 mph is to just raise the window about 1.5 inches. That is enough to deflect the wind back out when the windows are down.

thanks yes the buffeting is a real disappointment given how the car is meant to be used...

Blame it on the desire to move the side view mirrors

Must be a North America thing. We are encouraged to drive with our windows up on the track...

I could be wrong, but my guess is that the mirrors were moved off of the window area because cars are getting wider, so they need to have a wider viewing area and putting them on the doors pushes them further out without resorting to really large weird looking mirrors that would stick out too far. I think they were probably more aero friendly when they were off the doors, but with the wider cars, that probably became less effective and less safe.

It's only in the US that you drive with windows down. And I still don't know why?
But to be fair they could have designed the mirrors differently for the US spec cars!

It is. It's strange. I've noticed the buffet too. Very annoying. Will try the windows 1.5 inches up solution.

Anyone have experience with the AWE product? Seems like $160 is a no brainier if it fixes this issue. I noticed on their fitment guide the GT3 was not listed so I emailed them my VIN last week and they were able to confirm they work on the 991. I have no experience with them however.
